After 6 years of serious searching I found a car in what I think is likely to be the best condition possible...considering the poor quality steel used and the car's banger status enjoyed in the late 80s. This is a 1979 model with 2 owners from new (the first from 1979 to 2004). It was off the road from 1985 until 2006 when it was re-commissioned. NO rust anywhere, still original paintwork, mint interior, very original...and....33000kms from new - Thats only just over 20k miles. The doors close like a new VW (almost) and once the engine and gearbox have warmed up it purrs along. Although it had Dinitrol treatment about 20 years ago that is first job for me now along with reburbished period cromadoras. Hope you like the pictures.   |

Thanks for the complimentary comments guys - It has been worth the wait and effort to find this car. Even people with no interest in cars have commented on the condition of what is a 27 year old Italian car.  I will be organising a Fiat 131 classic rally in Ireland for early next summer and will post details in the events section soon. If this appeals to any owners please reply to this item for now. To answer some of the questions the plates are German (car came from Frankfurt), I only have the car a week but I doubt if it ever has been to W'hampton and the wheels, probably not satin black but they have a certain off black shine. Here are another couple of photos for now. The change in reg is the temporary export plate. It includes tax and insurance for 2 weeks with the expiry date stamped in the red section.
