The Compagno that they couldn't even be bothered to take off the trailer at the NEC Classic Car Show! I was pretty miffed that they did that AND had a Terios there - what the heck has that got to do with classic cars?!
Sorry, rant over!

*** ALERT *** OWN YOUR VERY OWN CHARMANT: DAIHATSU CHARMANT 1.3 LE, 1982 X reg, burgundy, 40k, MOT failure, ideal field car, runs very well, £75 ono. 07980 639523 Redland, Bristol Don't let this one get away! Posted in eBay thread as well. Go on, someone, then I can form the Charmant Owners Club and we can compare interior fabrics etc. What you'd be receiving there is a prefacelift LE like mine with the following luxury features: - Luxury upholstery seats - Plush carpet - Fabric headlining/sun visors - AM Radio - Alloy wheels - Door step lights - Boot light - 1.3 Toyota 4K engine - 5 speed K50 gearbox Alternatively, buy it and sell me some spares. If it wasnt so far away I would be quite tempted. Desperately need to clear my inventory before I take on any more projects though

Who knows it may even be a two-tone one! Let's hope so.

if it wasnt in Bristol it would be mine now! But your trouble with spares sort of makes it a bad idea! Think its best to find a sound one.

I thought about it long and hard (oo-er) ,.. but with no MOT and no spares,... it may be £75 to buy but to do anything with it will cost arm + leg

Depends what it needs to be honest, anything mechanical is pretty cheap and easy to get hold of, it's just a Corolla KE70 and you really shouldn't have trouble getting stuff for that. It's just Daihatsu things, bits of trim, lights, etc. which you'd have difficulty with. The bodywork may be an issue if it's quite far gone, I have seen front wings available but not a lot else! Probably a car that someone needs to ask about to see what the condition is, if it's just failing on some replaceable mechanical bits it really shouldn't be an issue. I'll even help out in finding the bits!
Though this offer stands too - if someone is tempted to buy it to banger it and/or break it for parts, I'll pay more than £75 for the bits I want if they're in decent condition. I just don't have the room to do it myself.

And if anyone buys it and plans to get rid of the engine and box...

OK small update! Now the Charmant has proper insurance and will shortly have tax again. I also ordered the 52mm version of this so I can finally see what I'm doing: Omori gauges were really popular in Japan in the 80s, I'm really going for an 80s period Japan street racer look. So let's run down the list of mods now: - Omori rev counter - Nardi steering wheel - Fender mirrors - MYSTERY JAPANESE WHEELS Now all I need is a "period correct" gearknob for it, anyone have any ideas?

Hey Hirst, I've got a Blitz gearknob (genuine not fake) black round and discreet except for a Blitz badge on top, would look the Shizz, I'll get some pics later. What are these mystery J wheels you speak of? we need to know ;D

I love the SSR Mesh rims, they suit the lines of the Charmant well. I ordered the Omori through OOParts, think it came to about £65 all-in with shipping: www.ooparts-international.co.jp/Not got it yet but only ordered it recently, can't wait to see it. Fitting it is another matter.....
