Hi all. Thought I would share three of my old mini's with you .: 1984 (B) 998 Mayfair ( My first car :. I brought this mini just after my 16th birthday to learn in and modify ready for when I was legal. This is a picture of the car before I started doing my bits on it. After a while I put a Stage 1 kit on with straight thru exhaust & K&N filter, 4 spotlights, minilights and a few chrome bits. .: 1975 (P) Mini 1000 :. This was a very fun car too drive! Died of a mystery engine problem and a tin worm. Despite a lot of work & money put on the car, nothing seemed to work Again I had a Stage 1 with a straight thru exhaust and K&N, 13" Starmags, GMax shocks & springs, Cobra bucket seats, Replica Momo steering wheel. .: 1976 (R) Mini Clubman 1098 :. This was one of the best cars ever!!! Brought it originally to completely modify, but after looking at the gorgeous Harvest Gold for a long time, I decided to keep it relatively standard. I added the minilites and did out all the interior. Unfortunately I had a bit of a mishap on the M6 and lost the front passenger wheel. Got it all sorted about a week later, cost about £50 I think, just needed 4 nuts, a new bottom 'A' panel and a brake disc.

Is this one of the Mini typical faults, i don't think i'd like to lose a wheel on the go!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I lost a wheel on my 100E twice. First was when the wheel bearing broke up and the stub axle melted (that did loads of damage) then when the nuts kept coming undone and I gouged the road with my TCA. I just walked back, found the nuts and wheel and put it back on and drove home. Oh and apologised to my mate who was in the car at the time having his first ride in an old car

i wanna see pics of the hornet now please minidan I will go down my garage on the weekend and get some pics... Not a great deal done though, haven't had the spare money/time. The interior has been stripped out, the headlining has been sent off to a specialist to get a match, the leather seats and carpets (both in really good condition!) are having a damn good clean & its sitting on axle stands with the wheels off so I can get some new period tires (whitewalls if I can find them in 10").

I think I seen one of the kits in the back of Practical Classic. The ones where you deflate the tyre a bit and stick them on. don't want them on the Hornet though, want the genuine artical.

not at all mate, if u want it that way the do it that way. i always thin it take alot less effort to painstakingly restore something than it does to mod it.

Right, went to the garage tonight to get some bits out and took a pic of the Hornet. Not the best picture. The seats are back in except the rear & theres a new back window. Thats about it so far. The next plan is to shotblast the wheels and get some new rubber on there. As you can see on the pic below, the old ones have had it What can you expect from the original tyre it had when it left the factory. 41k on the clock if memory serves me right.
