Thanks to the help of the top man 'cavmad', the 'tina got delivered, we told the owner it would be June nevermind its here now. OK So i'll first fess up its not officially mine! Its the GFs first car. well thats a lie, she had a Mini when she was young teens that rotted in the garden. So she found it, moaned that I was obsessed with us getting it! I got a bit bored, then she decided it would be the ideal nag free cool dudess motoring solution. Its a beaut, sills and arches are better than my Sapph, although, it does have its usual rot spots! Its a non starter too but being winched up onto 'Cavmad's truck made me feel like a right retroer, its got that old car smell, wooden bits, and old stereo, a big bus wheel, square front, high dash, and an big high rise wobbler! Yay! Mr W who was GF's old decent landlord, nice chap, he left the old 'tina sat for 3 years, when he started running this Merc instead, this thing looks cool with loads of bodges making sure it troops on and on, the back and boot have all kinds of house fitments etc. Its used to tow its trailer. cavmad and his helpful young assistant do their thing. To the horror of neighbours, its landed! rust squad, we need a mobile welder, the wings will come off to adress this and hopefully go back on, windscreen and rear screen needs to come out to get this right... boot looks ok Shipwreck part 2! shipwrecks together interior is lovely thanks to a life of furry seat covers! genuwiney 43.8K , just need to get the fugger started now, nothing on turn of key so could be starter is my guess... Biggest challenge was to get it in the garage due to big old skool shelves full of newly collected tat taking up space, after dodgy measuring i needed to make up only 15cm!! So i got my quick fix woodwork skillzors out and did some mods So we have new Battery, more fuel, found out its half full of old juice! collected some 14 inch sexy rs7's with good rubber, an old skool wheel. Plan to lower it a bit (insurance is an issue here) . Ms R has her own hatched cool future plans which include a full respray and some lowering, plus pimping cream interior, anyone got one?

Fantastic I love `tinas of all varieties. Looks like a pretty good one. They all seem to rust around the pillars. Starter motors always sem to be a weakness on pintos from my experience anyway. Used to be cheap enough though, I think I paid £33 for my last one.

Cheers for bigging me up Mark! Despite the pictures of the worse spots this is one very nice car for it`s age. I was pleasantly suprised when I went to collect it for Reanimation as I did think it`d be a total wreck. Loads of potential and took me back to my `Tina owning days, even `er indoors was wowed when I showed her the pictures. Keep me posted on progress!

never remove the tap holding together the rear lights. that just looks so cool!
the car generally looks quite solid and seems to only require a bit of work here and there.

looks okay - check the contacts on the starter as the live tends to break off inside the solenoid
getting the wings off is a pain in the butt - they usually have a sort of double sided tape holding them on - as well as the bolts - i found the easiest way was to slide a hack saw blade between the wing and rail and gently saw your way along
ps i have some spare rear lights if you want them

I too share share skodanorman's love of the novely of Mr W's great DIY bodge fix's, you really would not think that on paper he is a millionaire would ya?!!! Well at least we picked it up for dole money ;D qwerty, i know what you mean, I know of a 2.3 just like this but better being broke for the old engine. cavmad, yeah cheers mate done agreat job and you're right its not a bad old clunker at all. it might need shifting soon again thanks to a shonky flat! Loss of garage is making me ponder hunting a welder and rushing it through an MOT, which is the same scenario of the MR2.... Hmmm

Excellent! Good work for MrsAnimation for snaffling it up! You've got a good 'un there. And the car's not bad either Not envying you having to sort round the 'screens. That would have me cowering in the corner wimpering for mummy. 10/10 Well Done!

PM me your address and i ll get them posted to you - need any other spares? - i could stick 'em in the same box Thats very good of you. I'll work on a PM to chat about it, bumper caps are also req'd... When i'm not lumbered with other issues i'll get a look at that starter and its connections. Cranking it up and pulling a doughnut in the car park might just make me smile a bit!!

Hey thats great! Glad you got it finally! That A pillar repair shouldn't be much of a problem, getting the screen out without cracking it can sometimes be tricky but otherwise its plain sailing I reckon Look forward to seeing the progress and how it gets modded (although I realize you cant go crazy with the mods with it bieng he other halfs) I remember seeing these in the early 90's with Orion rear lights..... seem to fit faitly easily! Keep us posted!

orion lights do fit - although need some trimming
check the inner sills round the seat belt bolts and in the boot - above the rear silencer box for rust/rot
rear void bushes okay?

Ooh ooh, get one of those grilles off a P100 pick up truck, the ones with F O R D in massive white letters! Theres a 'tina near where I used to work with that grille on, it looks fantastic IMO! (though not everyones taste!)
