Nice Marinas! Mmm, a '72 coupe daily driver is just what we need at the moment I bought a TC a few years ago for £50 and feel rather guilty as it was actually pretty good but was bought as an engine donor for my Oxford. It ended up taken away by the council I agree with the others about teh bumper treatment.

Good idea about the 'ital chin'!!! Sounds funny too. Whatever you do don't put that bloody fibreglass thing on or I may kick it off again if ever see this car parked up! It looks horrific! THIS guy: www.oldpanels.com/ has 4 marina valances in stock according to his webshite.

humm turbo Marina now I love that idea. Can picture it now in primer grey ragging down a dual carrage way with the slight mutter of a dump valve.
cheers buddy, yeah the MGB still has the B series Lump but with some choice mods.

If its that rough why not put an entire Ital front end on? Imagine an Ital coupe! I honestly think that would look really good as well as being unique! You`ve already got two Marinas with the normal front.....

Wicked collection! Deffo agree about the jag front bumper, not a good look IMO, but its your car! I had a brown coupe once, that was ace. I had a front spoiler on that, a bit like the Ital one but much deeper.... I still have it somewhere actually! Think it was standard fitment, maybe it was an optional extra I dunno. That would suit it though IMO. Be interested to see how the turbo one progresses, excellent project!

Humm if your wanting to kit it, I think (now picture it before you dismiss it) the Sebring Arches off a BGT grafted on, with a little work they would fit a dream, and using the correct wheels it could look the shizzle.

The more I think about it the more I like my Ital coupe idea, go on, do it! Seriously it`d look really good and you`d have a spare front for your other two. I cant do it because I havent got a marina coupe, but you`ve got three! You`d get an Ital front end for buttons, in fact, buy an Ital, and put the Marina front on it and create a really weird one-off as a bonus!

all you need are the lights, bumper spoiler and grille, the metalwork is all the same.
Actually that is not correct, mk1 marinas are a bit different on the inner wings behind the headlights.

I think replacing the marina front with a fuggo Ital front end would be absolute sacralige! Look how nice this front end looks! Besides, not enough people know or care weather there was an Ital coupe ever produced, so the only time your going to get a reaction is if you go to the Marina/Ital owners club meets..... Wasnt there an early Marina front end with a chrome grille or saink? That would look good

Having followed you round Dartford one-way on Saturday I can honestly say the car looks even better in the flesh...I think you could wind the torsion bars down a bit more though! ;D
Where are you based by the way? I'm in Greenhithe.

back in 72/73 a neighbour used to run a 1.8tc coupe, real deep purple. as an eight year old at the time it was the car that first got me 'noticing' motors for the first time i recall- it just kind of stood out.

hi thankyou for the nice comments and ideas a neighbour near me had a mk3 coupe in black when i was little it was old and tatty but it was diffrent and i liked it the turbo coupe aka green thing, my mates nick name for it I'm in two minds what to do with it either wide arch ala capri style or leave it standard as possible primer ect with the turbo internals would make a good sleeper, sorry i don't like the ital idea i think there ugly yea i should get round to lowering the front of the black coupe its standard at the mo just the back springs are a bit saggy, and it could do with a respray also. I'm based in sidcup there is another type of grill fitted to the 1.8 and tc models and all later variants its stainless steel with black painted bits and a insert, plastic slots on tc, mesh or painted panel on the other models. Might have a go at polishing one up and taking the black bits off ta madmart

its ok, needs a lot of work though. At the moment its just a rolling shell, body's not to sad though it would have been better if suntor who did the conversion painted the edges where they cut the roof out for the pop top and windows ect!
