Noooooooo i've brought another one!!!! Been driving just over a year now and already own 3 retro clunkers, damn you Retro-rides!!! ;D ;D ;D Some of you may recognise it as andy998imps old car, the 'Yellow Peril' as it is known to the Impers of the north west. Plan to use it for university, my original Super being a bit to good to take up to Sunderland with me. With this car i can do what i want with it and have a good play! Went to pick it up last night minus engine, the 998cc in it is worth a few quid, a few more quid than i can afford at the mo so i just got the car. Hope to put a 875cc Sport spec engine in it (hopefully if i canget one cheap enough), can then bolt a few more goodies onto it, Weber 40 anyone? Can basicaly modify it for daily city usage in the jungle that is Newcastle, alarm, big carb, janspeed, remove rear pointless seatbeltless seats etc etc As of 9.15am this morning As of 7.30pm this evening ;D Need to respray bonnet, engine lid, front and rear valances and a few other crusty bits. Matt black bonnet anyone? Other than that, needs engine, new carpets, radio, some nice wheels, speedo cable, working rev counter, and a few other fiddly little bits and bobs. Should keep me busy for a few weeks!!! G

Well this didnt last very long. Its now gone annoyingly. Was going quite well, finished spraying the engine bay and was getting ready to find and fit an engine, alas it was not meant to be. I then learnt an important lesson in retro car buying, just because it has new/solid sills and new/solid arches it does not neciserily mean there is anything behind them... Was refitting passenger seat belt and had my weight on the passenger side of the rear seat and 'CRUNCH'. Its been cowboy'i'fied, inner sill had turned into air/dry toast on both sides of the car and taken a good bit of the floorpan with it from the passenger seat back. Andy998imp did not know, if he did i dout he'd have used it as it was totaly unsafe. Indeed, he payed good money to get it past its last MOT, think the welder however was more interested in the money than making a safe car. Looked at getting it fixed and on Friday morning Ron of Impspeed ltd came round and kindly quoted 2 days work for £200. However when i got back from work that night he'd left a message saying the rear driver side trailing arm was screwed, the front wishbones were welded together, the brake pipes had turned to stone, rust in both front arches (covered up with filler) + the original work needing doing and a list of other things. £500+ to get it through an MOT and about the same in 5 years time... So its still at Rons Its simply not worth doing, it was supposed to be a £600 project and was just going to be trouble. So currently thinking about taking the lowering springs, spax shocks, halogens and a few other things off of it and fitting them to the 74' Super, possibly. Ron has shown interest in the shell. So there we go, annoying and down heartening but ho-hum.

Sorry to hear that mate...a shame cos I daresay that aren't a huge amount of Imps left...does anyone know roughly how many? RWD Skuds are very thin on the ground now and they were still in production till 1990. Good that you're using it's parts to help keep others on the road though.

The Stellars up here with my at Uni in Sunderland. The bronze 74' 'Super' Imp is doon' south in the garage for now, not sure what I'm doing with it at the mo. Needs the cluth looking at and one or two other things. Hope to get it sorted and on the road again X-mas/Easter time and possibly either use it or store it again. Need something a bit more economic and smaller than the Stellar really.

Allo The cluth was squeeking like a pig and had developed a nice vibration at both ends so i took the engine out and replaced the cluth release bearing the day before i left for uni. Its gotten rid of the vibration.....its just now a stiff as board Brakes also nice and stuck etc etc so will get it to Mr Vince X-mas or Easter. Annoyingly just watched Mr Turbo Bufont's vids on Google vid and have the sudden desire to slam the biatch to hell and weber it ;D ;D Managed to drive the Stellar into a lamp post the other day as well... they still make flashor units thank fully trg1984, my other bangers are on here somewhere, try searching Hyundai Stellar and Imp Super 1974 in the reader rides section.
