Caught out a bit by an eBay ad, didn't view the vehicle first and as such had a bit of a heart attack when the MoT fail sheet came through. Top tip - always look behind bodykits for rust! Or in my case, for a sill at all
Failed on: Nearside rear brake no effort, offside front lower ball joint, both front brake disks pitted, hole in silencer, no washer/wiper switch (due to a break-in), nearside cv boot split and both sills rusted to b'ggery. there' also a small patch behind the airbox that needs welding.
still - got all the parts, finally stripped the front end down to do cv boot and balljoint (why oh why couldn't it have been the same side?)... new steering column thanks to theiving scroats, stalks from a mk3, locks on their way now. just need to organise some welding whilst there's a sun in the sky!!
there are good points though - it's only done 80k, got the digital dash, been serviced well, 4 brand new michelin pilots and the ashtray had 60p in it.
