Thanks Gtsaviour! I'm not too sure which models had this management, it seems to be the less popular one though which may make finding a replacement a bit more tricky Yeah i've definately got enough on my plate with the twin engine project! But I desperately need a daily and i'm really hoping to get this one running, so I don't mind sparing the odd day or two here and there. We'll see! F reg is the change over year from the Lucas black box to the Silver Motorola Engine management System (MEMS) From the engine pictures, I think you have the early type Lucas Black plastic box ecu. It can be found on any early MG Montego EFi from Start of production to F reg, and ALL models of MG Maestro EFi and 2.0i as they didn't change the managment system on the Maestro like the Montego and other Rover's to the Motorola version. Also early Montego Vanden Plus's have the same spec 2.0 EFi engine with the same ECU as the MG EFi Some Early Rover 800 2.0i 8v with have the same 2.0 EFI engine as the Montego but some are single point injection unlike the MG's multipoint.

I'll be watching this thread, I haven't seen an MG Monty for a long time... I vote to keep it white, super triple shiny blinding polished bling white, and "clean" it - declutter all the side trim and stuff, smooth out the bumpers and that kind of thing. Run it on satin black wheels with polished lips for superTuffHardness ;D We got a few at home (5) 3 good un's and 2 others which we don't know what to do with and need alot of restoration from theft damage and rusty archs. The 3 good ones. And a random picture of a Mint MG Turbo In New Zealand I was sent last week.

Cheers all ;D Anyway. Spoiler. Origionally it had this spoiler on: Not sure what it was, GSi? Aftermarket? Either way its gone now, previous owner had sold it before I got to it. It came with a spoiler, but i'm not sure what it is.... it needs repairing if i'm going to fit it, but i'm warming to the idea of no spoiler ;D So then, if we're having no spoiler, removing the reflector panel too.....: That Spoiler is part of the Montego Tickford Kit, Mabey (wood and Pickett can't remember fully). It was a factory or dealer fit kit. I managed to find one in a scrpayard once, and sold the spoiler on ebay for over £100. Thats why it was kept by the previous owner sadly I guess. Heres a Montego with the Tickford kit,

Thanks for all the info Metromartin! You certainly know your onions! You've got some nice Montegos too, that black turbo looks well on those white Advantage wheels Yeah I think i'm going to repaint the window frames black, or maybe a really dark grey instead? I'm in two minds with what to do with the paint scheme TBH, it will all depend on what wheels I end up with I suppose. This is the spoiler I have: Is it a mk2 Turbo one? I quite like it but as a rule I don't usually go for spoilers. Again it really depends on what look I go for with that I suppose. Also i've seen these wheels, WANT!: Correct PCD too! £500 though Can't afford them, but they would look awesome

So they changed engine management half way through the run on one car but not the other, and used carbs on the turbo engines? I fail to see the logic...

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

I think thats the spoiler, but has had the central legs removed as they look a bit retro now as they may have tried to modernise it a bit? I found a picture of the larger optional spoiler in standard form with the side skirts and rear bumper fitted too. Same as kit as your picture. The standard MG spoiler you can just see on the black montego with white wheels, just a bit wedge of spong on the back colour coded. If you got holes for the spoiler on the boot lid fit it back on. As its a factory fit spoiler I think it will look good and inplace with the car. But I do know what you mean about spoilers, they got to look right. Theres been a Montego of some sort in my faimily for many year after my dads white Opel Kaddet got crashed into by a neaibour reversing out of the drive with out looking. Many scrapyard trips seeing many there I know whats what
