Never seen this thread didn't realise you only joined sept 05 SL! Nice fleet, quite partial to orphans too after months of collecting influence from here!
I personally like the Slot mags on, but the car needs more accessories to go with them ideally. depends what style your going for.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

The slotmags would look good in black, or indeed with black centres pto disguise the style and make them look like any other deep-dish old school rim.

Tiny amount of progress to report on yellow 240K - removed the old fuel pump, decided it is terminally knackered so went and bought one off a Cavalier 2.0 from a local breaker's. Even that took one or two calls to track down, so think I might stock up on a few of these as finding old Datsuns with them on and still working seems to be getting difficult, on the subject of which may I present this....... Definitely not worth saving, been off the road a for a few years and I believe fuel pump duff. However, haven't even got round to sticking a battery on it yet. Manual 5-speed gearbox, handy for upgrades to older/smaller 4-speed cars or as spare. Huge amounts of other stuff on it too that I need now (like starter motor) or are worth stockpiling. Tank handy for upgrading Sunny/Violet to newer injected engines. Boot and LH wing good. Spare struts and springs good for ScrapingScrap grinding action....... Anyone need anything? Huge thanks to Datman for delivering it! Edit: Can someone tell me how to change thread title please?

Mr B, I thought of you and your Argenta 'issues' when I got it. Sadly I don't have any spare, though I think I'll make an effort to acquire a handful for future years as most stuff seems to be going to pump-in-tank. It had already been removed for me, so I don't know exactly what model. '95-ish 2.0 I think, surely there's a few of those as Opel Vectra over there? Senators, Calibra etc apparently use something similar.
Mine was £24, but at least I got to hear it working and it was cheaper than £45 + P&P a ZX specialist wanted for one.

now that I know a cavalier one is right, i have found a vauxhall specialist via the bay, he's got one for £20, just got to see how much it will cost to send it over here. hope its not too much, considering that it probably will not work when it gets here anyway.

Mr.B, I think I have a spare pump in the shed if you get stuck. I run that kind of pump on my 510. The best way to keep this kind of pyump from packing in is to run a pre filter. The tolerances in the pump head are so small that even the tiniest smidgeon of curse word jams them solid. I think I bought my pre filter from Merlin Motorsport in Chippenham. No cheap at about £40 but I've not had a pump fail since running it and had two fail before. You can also dismantle the pre filter to clean it out which is handy.

Exciting progress to report. Last night I cleaned the Laurel for only the second time (it probably looks better dirty TBH). Also, recently fitted my JVC head unit and 12-disc changer into it - seemed silly not to put something into the hole left by the previous owner. Quality installation where changer sits in a cardboard box in the rear footwell. Of course, this has also helped 'cure' many of the odd noises made by the car. It's getting to the stage where it's more useful to me in bits, so must save up a few pennies for its replacement. On the subject of which, I was pleased to learn last night that when I start the Laurel up it rattles my neighbour's bathroom light. Given that our houses are fairly solid old brick things and his bathroom is at the back this seemed an impressive feat. Exhaust was bodged for MoT and does have some spectacular resonant periods exacerbated by the auto 'box holding rev's. Maroon 240K failed its MoT and is off the road for a month as tax was also due. Not a terrible failure list, so that really ought to get sorted soon. In two minds whether to carry out some (reversible) mod's on this for CARS, or whether it'll be the Starlet. My thought was the yellow 240K would be the one to receive mod's, but maybe I'm better to go with the one I know to be basically roadworthy and reliable for the short-term. The recently acquired gold 240K will be a good source of things like springs for chopping etc. Much as I'd like to make mine look this tidy...... That's not going to happen in the near future with its mis-matched paint on one side and rust coming through Still, perhaps that gives me a different opportunity?
