Thinking of KE10s and car collections, did you see who bought the 120A on eBay?! Joncedric? Is there some sort of offically recognised Datsun obsessive/compulsive disorder? ;D Seems it's just not possible for Datsun fans to own just one or two - why ARE about 75% of all remaining datsuns distributed between about 6 individuals?

Because: a) They're cheap. b) Not many other people want them (though hopefully that's changing). c) Always useful to have one or two for spares. d) There are so many models to choose from. e) Because of b), it's good to keep a few out of the hands of banger racers and exporters. f) Why not?! In my Manta 'A' days, I remember a guy who had nine. I'm sure every make has a few people like it. The amusing thing about Joncedric is that he is supposedly selling lots of stuff prior to moving out to Spain. Most I've ever had at one time was seven, all big six-cylinder jobs. Lucky that I've got a bit of space. This was at the time I got married, so I've always got a benchmark to refer back to....

I wondered about that too ,..
Car wise I'm only allowed one daily and one toy car. Eventually my current toy car will become my daily (eeek) and I'll get another toy car to play with.

LOL, I am also only "allowed" one toy, but CDD got the better of me and I have 3 toys My last purchase has not been revealed to the home minister and is safely stashed away in a lock up about 1 mile from home. Guess where I spend many a weekend? ;D I am working on a plan on how to break the news...

The other cars keep my two lock ups company....

I'm lucky - my wife drives the sensible family car and for most of the last five years my toys have always been my daily drivers. Got to admit I get nervous when only one is on the road, handy to have something else you can jump in if there's a problem with the other. Oh, and I do a relatively low mileage almost all on country roads - if I was hammering up and down the motorway every day it might be different.
HoTWire, if you're saying the B310 is going to become your daily driver then I don't think you've got a lot to worry about. Thousands of African taxi drivers can't be wrong...

Well, this is what the poor little 100A now looks like...... Big thanks to Marky from the DOC and ScrapingScrap for their help in stripping bits off it, there really isn't much left on it. Purchase price of the car was pretty much covered by the 6 gallons of fuel SS managed to drain from its tank, which was divvied up between my Laurel (that'll last about 2 days then) and his 180B estate. Great to see my old car again, looking good on the black TR6 steels now with trim rings. And in other fleet news, the Starlet has finally been fitted with new thermostat outlet after I snapped the old one. Looking forward to my journey to work in it tomorrow!

that rear bumper is being scrapped is it? was that white stripe hand painteD? Carcass got collected on Monday. Bumper was useless - note gaffer taped ends. Yes stripe was brush-painted Dulux, as used on all the top automotive paint jobs (the Laurel's lower third has been painted with household gloss). There certainly wasn't much left by the end of Saturday - even stuff like seat belts were useful to SS to replace static belts in the 180B. So far bits from it are going to various places in the UK, plus struts to Finland! Better than it rotting on my driveway until someone wanted to buy it complete. It only took most of a Sunday then couple of hours last weekend to get to this state from a 100% complete car (though admittedly quite a basic simple one). I'd happily have bits of cars laying around like this forever, but main problem as we discovered is attracting undesirable traveller elements - Mrs SL disturbed by two guys on Monday wanting to take it away, and who knows what else they'll sniff out while they're around. By coincidence it was the day I'd sorted with my mate to collect it anyway.

Wow, actually did something on one of my cars. As ScrapingScrap has promised to help weld the yellow 240K, thought it only fair that I do some stuff to it while he's away in Canada. OK, so not up to racer86 or Bstardchild standards, but to get myself going thought I'd get a decent set of tyres on there. Wheels still tatty, but at least they're black and not full cracks after long storage this car underwent. While it was jacked up I stuck the set of ex-Scimitar slot-mags I've got onto it, just to see how they sat in the arches. Tyres not right, 185/70 on the back and 195/60 on the front, whereas I'll go for 195/65 ultimately. Not convinced that they're the right style really, so maybe paint them satin black? Advantage with them is they sit further out, outer face of rim about 40mm further than originals. This shot above is standard wheels again, plenty of room in the front arches but rear will probably be tight with the Wolfies (see below). Hopefully semi-trailing arm IRS will swing wheels in as camber is introduced, so it shouldn't be a problem. Sitting a bit high as it hadn't settled, but it will get lowered. Got straight front bumper to go on, and if it makes any shows this year I'll swap the JDM front light surrounds and round tail lights off the maroon car onto it.

I'm going to cancel out Asconadaz's comment by saying I don't like the slotmags!!! To me they just say 'yeah i've boshed these on cos they're different to standard and they were cheap off the bay', not really ideal for that kind of car. You need something more intricate and spangly IMO.

You need something more intricate and spangly IMO. ;D That is EXACTLY what happened ;D I agree 110% with what you say, but this car has to be done on a budget, hence my thoughts about painting them black which I think will work with the solid yellow paint. At least that'll give it a better stance. In an ideal world I'd be fitting a set of spilt rim Compomotive TFs or Appliance Wiremags. The original wheels when in as-new condition certainly qualify in the intricate and spangly count, but they sit in more than I want. Rear arch trim was already removed when I bought the car, may have helped it actually judging by what's happened on the maroon 240K. Plan is to remove front too, just hope it doesn't bring too much wing with it
