Totally awesome car and one which I'm going to blatantly steal lots of ideas off.I hope you don't mind but they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. ;D
Are you running inner tubes with those tyres???

Absolutely inspirational car you have there dude.
I have a couple of questions for you such as where did you get the suspension stuff from and does it improve drasitcally over the stock setup? Also is it height adjustable front and rear?
Awesome stuff, I saw your car at Japfest and JAE this year, totally loved it.
I wondered if there is also an owners club for the KP30?

Cheers for the comments ;D The suspension is Mini front Gaz dampers on the rear with de-cambered leaf springs and lowering blocks. The front it a coilover conversion kit for a MK1 Escort from Rally design, it needed shimming to fit the struts but they work well. The handling is pretty good now though its so low and with the stretched tyres I am compromising all out cornering for looks, though it does handle better sideways which is most important! I don't know of any KP30 club, if there is one I'd join! It being rolling road set up tomorrow so I will post an update and hopefully some numbers!!

Back from the rollers ;D I took the car to Hi-Tech Motorsport in Cradley Heath. It's needed doing for a little while and this was the first time I have had chance to get it done. The car was flat between 2000 - 3500 rpm and a bit rich at the top end. After an initial inspection to see where the carbs were at, the idle mixture was set the car was power run. It made 88bhp at the wheels. Some tweaking of the timing saw the next run at 97bhp at the wheels. Some new air correctors and minor timing tweaks saw 105bhp and 102 ft/lbs at the wheels. Thats 131bhp at the flywheel! ;D ;D ;D Final Power Run; Mick (top bloke) advised me that the car really needs electronic ignition as number 4 is getting a weak spark so thats on the shopping list. He also recommended a more lairy cam as the current 280degree Kent T125 is holding it back. Its good to know the engine has more potential for tuning when I get used to the power again! All in all a morning well spent, the car is so smooth with no flat spots and even seems good on fuel, oh yeah and it goes like stink! ;D Now its ready for some track action at RR07!!!

It was running like a bag O' balls LOL. It cost me £118 including 4 air correctors and VAT. the car was on the rollers for about 1 and 1/4 hours. Money well spent as the car is transformed. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for rollers in the Midlands!

Surely one of the best cars on here? I had one with the usual best intentions but alas, it never made it! But I do have 2 Starlet race cars!!! One with a very similar spec 5k 1500 motor with the bigger kent 254 cam! I think the last time it was on the rollers it made between 108-110 at the wheels but it goes straight to 100 from 4000rpm and stays there till 8000rpm and only drops off to the 90's. Easily revs to over 9000rpm. Hurts my ears tho! Mine has an electronic ignition out of the liteace van that the engine comes out of. All you need is the ignition pack and the electric dizzy. Still available from Toyota I guess or just wait for a van on ebay? 125 nice and driveable on the road tho, had a 126 in a starlet on the road and it was tame yet wild enough for everyday and over30k miles. My mates had a 254 in it and was just nasty!

That's a really impressive improvement. I mean, you've just added nearly 20% power at the wheels for a bit over a hundred quid. Very cheap for what you've got out of it!

Tempted to get something similar done on the Charmant, think the fuelling is all over on it! Lots of hesitation and flat spots. Is it as simple as you driving it up and them making the suitable adjustments? Mine is just standard but I'd happily pay that much for it just to run nicely!
Love the engine note! Those K engines sound ace with a different carb on - it's so cool that you kept with the K series. Now bosh a supercharger on it!
