Hi all,
This is my Saab 900 'Carlsson' The Carlsson was a special edition introduced in 1990 and produced for 2 years finishing in 1991. The cars were available in Red, Black or White. The Carlsson was named after Swedish rally legend Eric Carlsson who won a few races driving Saab's.
The basic differences between the Carlsson and the rest of the range is the body-kit, wale-tail spoiler, different injectors (I think) 3-bar fuel pressure regulator, 0.1 BAR boost increase, sports steering wheel and sports springs. Other options included 16" wheels, electric seats, air-conditioning and leather seats with suade inserts. The standard car is rated at 185bhp which is a 10bhp increase over the T16 model.
My car is currently in the body-shop getting a 2-pack respray and a couple of bodywork tweaks. It's a 1990 with 114 thousand miles, grey leather interior, red bodywork and 16" wheels. Aside from the bodywork I have also dismantled the engine and I am in the process of rebuilding with new bearings, balanced crank, balanced rods, low compression pistons and a lightened flywheel. I am changing the cylinder head for one containing bigger valves (either from the Saab 9-5 or the 2.3 9000 engine) I've also bought a Motec M800 engine management system which should give me full control over the engine. I will also be fitting an 8" LCD panel which will fill up the top part of the dash. Performance wise I am hoping to get 250 bhp but this will be without compromising on low-range performance so I am keeping the small turbo and the standard cam-shaft. There are quite a few of these cars running 300bhp and some 500bhp motors - these higher figures come from cam and turbo upgrades which can eat into drivability; this is something I want to avoid - but we'll see how it goes. Essentially I'm looking to build a faster car by making the original design as efficient as possible - not by bolting on a huge turbo.

Just after I got the car in Sept. 2003
