Dunno if you can call the Mustang II a muscle car when for the first couple of years they didn't come with a factory fitted V8... a smog-stangled 2.8 V6 or the 2.3 Lima SOHC was as exciting as it got. The King Cobra package 302 was like 135 BHP. Potential for sure (as admirably demonstrated by the red one up top and the white one rawks too), but out of the box they were very weak. Not sure that Dusters are "forgotten" - seen the prices they are fetching now? Proper forgotten muscle is like the 1957 Nash Rambler...

polodragin in da house: Forgotten muscle carsI don't know if it can be called a Muscle Car but it's one of Chevrolets best efforts to create somthing a bit out of the box, I have owned a 1975 Cosworth Vega and I would be lying if I told you it was a monster but it was something cool and different, a nice driving little thing with a "European Flavour". It was only available a couple of years much like the Syclone, Typhoon & GNX (other GM special vheicles), I guess most of them was junked since GM could not supply parts for the Cosworth motor that was not the most reliable but it was a cool ride.... I have always liked the body lines of the Vega, I have also owned one stuffed with a V8 and in a semi Pro Street look, it's a cool car and during the "golden age" of Funny Cars the Vega was a cool break from all "full size" bodystyles, there was even a Vega Wagon "Flopper" here in Sweden sponsored by Lee Jeans.... DP says: Just one that was forgotten....

Mustang II came with a v8 in the 2nd year(75, like ours) But the was smogged up to high hell, nothina 4BBl holley and a set of hookers wont work out, The edelbrock performers on the bench might help too!
A 57 Nash could hardly be discribe as a muscle car dude!, how ever cool they maybe!

A 57 Nash could hardly be discribe as a muscle car dude!, how ever cool they maybe! The "definition" of a muscle car is an "intermediate body car with a full size car engine fitted". As in the GTO (Tempest with a 389 or 421 Bonneville motor) The 1957 Nash Rambler was a base model Nash with a full size Ambasador V8 in it and was one of the fastest US production cars of 1957... Some people claim it was the first muscle car. I'd prefer to regard it as a "proto-muscle car", same as the C300 and the '53 Oldsmobile Rocket 88.

don't forget the Plymouth Superbird!!! Sexy cars!! Definitely NOT a forgotten muscle car. Also, those Cossie Vega's, the engine melted away on them, and if they were a little bit rusty, they were still in the assembly line. Now, not really "forgotten" OR a true(read : V8) muscle car, but the baddest car the good ol' US of A has ever produced......The Buick Grand National/GNX. Oh, and those chav-tastic "Z3 fenders" should really be called "GNX Fenders."
