And now for something not as mysterious as the mighty metro or the certainly-alpine-based-but-then-maybe-not kitcar, but still something strange. I was waiting at a red light today and saw a modern-ish fiat 500 coming from the left in a distance. But the rear wheel somehow looked broken. Infact the whole rear end was little bit lifted and something clumsy was underneath. Then I lost eye contact. A little bit later I saw it again and could even take a pic: I still don't have clue what was going on there: I heard of german electric conversions of the 500 using forklift technology, but did this one feature a complete forklift rear axle? Or was something like the microlino, that electric bmw isetta thing underneath it? Unfortunatley I did not notice if the front wheels or the rear wheels worked as a steering device, I am thinking an elaborate disguise for a prototype?

Errrr well don’t see many of these On a kent seafront on a Monday ! I’d love to do one, but I can’t imagine many camp sites would take them. I think you’d build it then only end up being able to take it to festivals & the like

Yeh but they’ve still got 4 wheels !! If they are within a certain distance apart they are legally classed as a single wheel.

I haven't seen one of these for years! My parents had a couple of this shape 100 Avant when they were new, although both were earlier. I think the second was on a C or D plate, and that was replaced by a facelift G plate Volvo 745 (which I remember much better, including my mother redesigning the front end when it was less than two weeks old...). One was dark green, the other dark blue, and both made me car sick as a child, which the 745 never did.

It looked like a larger vw passat b1 hatchback.

I think that shape Avant came out around A-prefix, didn't it? I recall a mate being quite into the Audi 200, he had an A-prefix saloon at one point and I thought the Avant was out at the same time. 1982, according to wiki, so quite possibly on a C or D.

Both Audis were definately that aero shape model. The first replaced a white Pug 305 estate, and arrived after autumn 1983 (as we moved house then & I remember the Pug still being around after the move). The second would probably have arrived in around 1986 / '87. I don't recall the exact spec as I was too young, but it definately had hub caps rather than alloys*, and would have had wind up rear windows as I first encountered electric ones in my uncle's Saab 9000.
*In fact, I don't think that any of their cars had alloy wheels until the Nissan Navara that my father bought in around 2005.
I don't recall the Audis' plates with any certainty, but the first may well have been an on an A. The first Volvo was definately a G (something like G436UYM), and its replacement was J907HUS, which was a dark metallic grey (with most of the chrome trim in body colour) 945 SE Turbo which a neighbour usually referred to as a hearse, & my mother put 40K miles on it in 18 months trekking the length of the UK for dog shows as she & my late grandmother were breeding & showing small spaniels at the time... Then replaced by a Pug 405 estate GRD (note the distinct lack of T) which I think was G793XBL (or 973) when my parent's divorced a couple of years later. That was also when my father bought the Amazon estate that I still have.
The pointless stuff that we (or at least I) remember from childhood, but can I actually remember anything useful...??

Apparently some sort of Daewoo, never seen one before It's a Zuk from Poland. This one wouldn't be a Daewoo but I think they are the predecessors of some models that were some kind of joint venture badged as Daewoos. Of course I could look it all up but CBA... They used to be everywhere in Poland but they've become quite a rare sight now.

That's why I thought it looked like from the eastern block! Here's a pic of the other end: Wow, there's even an english wikipedia page for it! And for the successor, the Daewoo Lublin (Lublin is the production place in poland).
