wheels look much better, seats look pretty good too should be a usefull economical run around.
for the rusty conversion bis I'd just wire brush it then give it a coat of something like dynax UB should stop it getting any worse.

Wheels look OK. You'll have to get another seat, just for George You mean…….?

Excellent work that man! Much prefer those centres for the steelies - think it's the contrast in colour. And those 5 spokes are excellent. Considered a similar set for the Bora when I had it, but could not find any. Thank you mate. I am pleased with them. The black centres are just so weirdly right. The 5 spokes to me, have just enough detail with the detail on the spokes and the centre caps “smoothing” it all out. They are weird wheels. I have seen pretty mullered sets for £250.00 and some good sets ranging from £400.00 right down to £50.00 for this relatively immaculate set with two good tyres. I was tempted to just buy them.

Thanks Kevin. Regarding the Rusty undercarriage….. Agreed, clean up as best I can, some brush on rust converter stuff, and then brush on some random pant to try keep it contained, or at least slow the flow. But of course that lot will be due for after I figure the rear bumper removal and replacement out, and once I have prepped and painted the new rear bumper that needs a bit of work too.

Once again, thank you. I have no doubt that they are an unnecessary expense because the steels and tyres fitted are nearly new and would have given me years/miles of great service, just like the factory intended. I saw this cartoon last night and heard the sage voice of nickwheeler in the recesses of my mind.

I like those wheels but surely the tyres are too big? A caddy runs 185/60 14s, does it not? I'd've thought you'd've been looking for 40 or 45 profiles in 16s!

As always, asking opinions on here is like rolling a dice or is that die. Could this be a gear knob? Oh, no ? Not a ratrod or anything else super weird. My knob is loose (like my morals I hear you say) But I need to tighten things up. Having a random collection of gear knobs, collected over the years means I have options. However……. The standard does have a very good ergonomic feel to it. I have not tried to remove the knob, so no idea how it is fitted inside the stick. Screw on, plug in??? Thanks.

Morning Misteralz, Thanks for the comment and post. I took them out for a drive, up to “overtaking speed” and they felt really good. There is a minimal difference at 45, 55 profile in the rolling circumference. So indicated speed will differ between the different wheels and tyres, but I would calibrate the actual speedo, using a satellite speed indicator and then just do a mental adjustment to drive legally. At most, I could print a small label for the dash clocks and place it somewhere irritating to remind me. The feeling on the steering wheel is more than good on slow manoeuvre and also at speed. I am hoping this will work, as many others have gone the same route. Unless someone knows stuff I should know.

Errrrmmmm…. Not ideal way to start a Sunday. So two mugs of tea, Digestives and patiently waiting. Tinting must happen today. Seriously, two days kinda wasted due to inclement weather.

It's coming on nicely bud. If you plan on applying Lanoguard at some point, resist the urge to paint the undercarriage to let the treatment get to the rust itself. Rust converters are no problem. Have a peep at the FB Lanoguard users page for more insight. www.facebook.com/groups/lanoguardusers/?mibextid=oMANbw

I did not quite understand your comments about paint and treatment getting to the rust. As well as converters……. Thanks regarding the progress. Just keep doing a bit every day. Some jobs, like window tinting took about 90 minutes for the first one, the others are no better. Makes me realise why we pay people to do stuff. Also makes me keep trying. Mare later.

So. One side done, loads of swearing under my breath. Reached out for the matches, could not find them….. Carried on installing this hateful stuff. One side done, eventually. Drivers side. Glass out. Cleaned up first. Done and refitted, with lodgers help holding mounting button in place. Last glass done. And for some reason it was not easy. Aaaahhh yes, concave glass. Woke this morning. And guess what……..? Kept on working it, eventually settled and happy to move on. And both sides behaving. Time to move into the next phase. Blackout. Can you see what needs doing? Template. CAD to the rescue. Done. Needs to be seen stepping back a bit. And next little job…. Curved ball. Door window frame…….. Cut out. Applied. AND LOOKING AT THE COMPLETE PICTURE. MEEHHHH….. Another small job done. Time consuming, and many people would neither notice or get it done. But works for my head and need to make small changes. Video. That’s a load of time consuming, non sweat inducing work done. Do I like it?/

Great work! I thought in its original form it looked a bit odd; you've worked wonders on it. I'm now trying to decide if clear indicators and side repeaters would look better still...!

Aaaahhhh… I would not say two steps ahead, but already saved in my eBay account…… And three distinctly different examples of the same thing. I know which one my Caddy resembles. As always, keeping an eye open in case someone is breaking one with clear lenses fitted, that can come my way for little cash. Saying that…… these ones on eBay are cheap enough, the side repeaters are a bit more of course. But the change in face will be huge.
