With a lot of regret, I'm finally selling my 944 - I have to accept I don't have the space to store it and don't have the time to work on it amongst my other project cars. I've owned it since 2015. It is MOT'd and on the road, has lots of nice bits, is pretty sorted mechanically, but needs bodywork and general attention.
Being an '85 car, only 2 more years and it's tax exempt.
It is currently MOT'd, on the road, starts and drives nicely. It's been out few times this year once the salt disappeared and has behaved perfectly.
In Summary:
^ On Initial Investigation
^Temporary Patch job

In Summary:
1985 944 2.5 Manual (Square dash), ~112k
Rare Bits:
- Non Sunroof
- Early offset staggered 16" Teledials (w. Genuine Centre Caps)
- Manual Sports seats - black leather.
- Air con (not working - definitely needs more than a re-gas)
Major work done in my 7 years of ownership:
- Timing and balance belt early 2022. Idlers and tensioners were changed with last belt change, 07/2016)
- New Sachs Clutch (and new RMS, clutch fork bearings)
- Bilstein B6 shocks on all corners
- Uprated ARB Front and Rear from Late S2 26/16.5mm
- Front suspension refresh - OEM strut top mounts, OE Springs, new control arms, ball joints, track rod ends and all bushes.
- Gear Shifter Rebuild front and rear - no slack at all.
- Swepco 201 Gearbox oil
- New OEM Steering column and bulkhead bush/bearings. (old one had play in lower universal joint)
- New engine mounts (Hydraulic Mounts)
- New handbrake shoes. Handbrake works perfectly.
- New OEM Thermostat
- New GKN (OE) CV joints (x4)
- New FAG (OE) Rear wheel bearings
- New TRW Clutch Master Cylinder
- Linear Throttle Response Cam
- Refurbished Gear stick/leather gaitor and rubber boot.
- 4 wheel alignment
- Avon ZV7 tyres on all corners - the staggered wheels limit tyre choice!
The car has very little history from before I bought it, I've kept a detailed spreadsheet of purchases and have a google album full of photos documenting the work that I'm happy to go through/share with the buyer.
Current Issues:
- Bodywork. NS Rear Quarter and rear sill, Small rust patch OS sill. Poor paintwork on roof/bonnet/OS Wing.
- Cracked mounting point for drivers seat (front right corner)
- Damaged bowden cable for cabin heat control, needs replacing.
- Oil pressure sender needs replacing
- Passenger window doesn't work from drivers side switch - works from passenger switch.
- Brake pedal is spongey - it always has been. I've flushed and bled the system multiple times. I have a full set of seals to rebuild the callipers which will come with the car.

The car had some historic crash damage on the rear NS quarter that had been poorly repaired when I bought it - naïve me didn't see the filler. I have a replacement panel cut from a donor car (removed neatly, spot welds drilled) that will come with the car. The end of the N/S sill is not in good shape although still passing MOTs.
There is a better collection of photos here: Google Photos.
As mentioned above, I have a rear quarter panel that will come with the car. I also have a box of various bits and bobs including seat belts that could be installed for the rear seats, two load space covers (should be able to make one good one from the two broken ones... yet another thing I never got round to), and a 'toast rack' rear valance that needs prep and paint. It will also come with the offset 27mm (?) spanner needed to tension the timing/balance belts, and the tool to adjust the rear wheel alignment.
I can also include a staggered set of 15" teledials for £50, but the tyres are rotten and the paint is bubbled, they need a full refurb.
MOT History - the car had been off the road for (I was told) about 15 years before I bought it. The Mot history is below. I imagine the most concerning entry is the 'filler' comment in 2019 - this was after initial investigation into the filler in the rear arch. The front bottom of the arch was frilly and was cut out, rust protected and filled over to keep the car presentable until the new panel was put on - supposedly in a month or so's time. That never happened and the filler is still there, It still needs the bodywork, but it's definitely not structural. The latest general corrosion comment is, again, primarily for the wheel arch - see the google photos album for underbody photos.
Questions, viewings and offers all welcome
