Lots of crawling in and out of car later, double treble checks I think I’ve found my happy compromise position of the Pedal - Seat - Steering Wheel Surprise to say I need a deep dish 80-95mm wheel I have ordered Nicky Grist 350mm 2 spoke Corsa. Wilwood pedal box arrived yesterday I have ordered 6mm 6082 T6 Ali’ plate to machine the mounting plate that will be bolted to weld on tab brackets I have tack welded a rectangular brace in the main hoop, it’s to also form the rear window opening Luckily I had some surplus 1.75 x 1.00 x 0.063” 4130 box from another job, It costs around £50/ foot 40 x 2.0mm Cross tube will also go in later for the MSA seat belt fastening

My Grandad was works manager for Lancia in the 70s - he gets several mentions in the Lancia Owners Club history of the marque book.
He had - or at least had use of - a Stratos for a while, and one of my earliest motoring memories as a sprog is being driven through the Blackwall tunnel in a full works Fulvia with the noise of that V4 echoing back. He had Flavias, Flaminias, some beautiful tin.

Sean, forgive me if you’ve spelled this out earlier in the thread, but will this be street-legal, or strictly competition focused?
Best, John

Corsa steering wheel looks great Check driving position again, will shim steering column down about 10mm so line of sight top of wheel about level with top of dash

Nothing exciting, however I made a mounting plate for Pedal Box from 6082 T6 plate mounted with laser cut tab brackets Then I went and tack welded the FIA seat rails. Finally 1st real world try out of the driver position. Very happy, feet off the pedals I have plenty of thigh knee / steering wheel clearance. I went over to Xsport Racing to meet with John discuss my rear body and round Grp4 wide arches Was given some good info on brakes John uses same size calipers all around Wilwoods with 0.71” bore masters front and rear and says that it only takes a little adjust on balance bar to correct the brake bias So no point in guessing when an multi time Rallycross champion offers info. I had bought 0.75 / 0.625 as I had read on Stratosec forum re LB and Hawk Went ahead an ordered a pair ton 0.71” Yesterday went and bought a Lancia Beta Spyder 2.0 I’ll nab the handbrake assembly Sell off the good stuff whatever people want. That’s makes 3 cars giving up parts for this build, definitely the last

Steering wheel looks the part - I have a similar style in mind for mine.
Shame we do not know if that barely started Corse S kit was sold or not - that's an ideal donor for the new owner right there.

Re wheel I can tell from photos of other cars and original that my wheel position is rearward about 50mm but trying make I do not have a compromised Driving position On the the Beta I just need to sell off what I can or whole car as is, i bet I can get it running !!

1 week holiday over. Continuing with the center section, front rear plumb bobs checking everything is square and symmetrical as possible, I am not going to worry about 1-2mm discrepancy as that’s really nothing Trying to reduce the amount of body stretching required to remove and refit the door hinge posts have spacer plate Inside the 40x20 mm box is floating nut plate, 20x4mm with 3 weld nuts, I put rear access finger hole so can manipulate plate to enable location of fastening bolts

Maybe I've missed it, but which calipers are you using? I do not have my hubs uprights calipers wheels etc yet However based upon what John Cross rally X Stratos is using, size wise / caliper piston size He is using Wilwoods, however he is using 17” wheels and I am staying with 15” for authentic/ rolling diameter/ gear ratio reasons I’m thinking either CompBrake or Wilwoods with the most rigid design cannot go over 295mm disc with 15” wheel (4 piston calipers) 🤞I will have all the above in next 2-3 months

Plated front side door hinge / body mount with 0.050” 4130 On to the door lock catch as this also locates rear of body on the inboard side with bracket to chassis Made template drill jig for door locks can just flip template for Left and Right Marked the center of pin section for door catch These are X1/9 parts, not sure if other cars used Beta ? Taped doors to best fit then marked and drilled door catch location Idea is to hang doors on catch alignment to body then I can build the front hinge brackets

X1/9 for all lock parts - do you have the replica kit build manuals? The show the modifications required to the locks for use on the Stratos. Your door moulding is interesting as most just have the outline for cutting to suit the X1/9 handle

John I think has those front / inner wheel arch piece molds Next time I’m over there I am going ask to see if can sort though his Stratos molds, as it save me work, even if I have to modify still better than nothing Last time I was there we discovered he had both Round and Square rear arch extensions, that he wasn’t fully aware of + he says he has the 4 light pod molds
