A fairly early start this morning saw my Brother and I head over to the Chung Ku Chinese restaurant in Liverpool for the monthly Cars and Coffee meet. We went in his recently acquired Metro Rover 111 in convoy with a ridiculously clean K11 Micra belonging to a lad just a few doors down. Some pics of what we saw... Gorgeous 911 Restomod, built by Stuttgart Classica. You could hear this DeTomaso Pantera a mile off, they look fabulous from any angle in any colour. Syncro wedge! Love it.

Jensen Interceptor, ultra cool. Apparently this is an Audi colour, really suits the lines. Really like this Triumph, sat just right on the Revos. Tiny! So so small! Trojan 200.

US import Merc coupe. It's got a Ford V8 up front, apparently installed by some Californian hot-rodders. I don't think he's had it long, and he did say that the wheels would be going. Lots of 911 goodness, more to come Super whiny straight cut box'd Mini, historic rally car. Love it

For an every day disposable car I still maintain that the Mk2 Escort is one of the best looking 3-box shapes ever. Look good in every form from every angle. Classic Mk1 Cortina. These must be getting valuable now? Nice and retro - straight in the "I can't remember when I last saw one" pile. Fiesta S, certainly a practical classic! Super clean Corsa, I love the colour.

Lotus Europas are so small they're almost dwarfed by MX-5s! Wouldn't be a car gathering without some kind of MGB, nice to see. A modern, but this was new to me. Chevron SR8. Nice, but it's no B8 - one of the prettiest circuit racers ever

"The Champ Is Back" Mk5 Escort RS2000, probably a fairly rare thing now. This 356 was just perfect. I absolutely loved every inch of it. Sweet patina.

Replica Porsche, towards the end of the morning it rained quite heavily, hope he didn't get too soaked! This Commer drew a lot of attention. Fabulous Esprit V8. I think the stripe marks it out as a special one? I'll have to do some research, I can't remember.

Very nice XR2. Ford are the masters of making their hot variants look so much meaner than the cooking models. Cute little 126, a contrast to the other rear engined cars there - 911s! So much want.

Toyota Soarer sat on three spokes. What's not to like? Where did all the Celicas go? This was a really nice one. Lovely, waftoJag. Definitely not a waftocar, TVR animal.

Loved the colour of this Capri, really popped! Almost as bright Caddy. So sad that we'll likely never see a modern Capri again. Yellow!

100e had a Ford V6 up front, the owner said he bought it from Kent and did 600 miles in it over a weekend with no problems, great stuff Just. Beautiful. Another 911 and I'm not sorry. Saved the best 'til last, utterly utterly stupendous Alpina B7 Turbo. One of two in the UK, it's absolutely mint and come a lottery win I'd make sure there was a third one over here...

That's some variety of cars on show! I can't even think what I'd pick as my favourite out of that lot
Is nice to see the former "everyday" 90s stuff like the fiesta, Corsa b and k11 Micra getting a bit of love, look really tidy when cleaned up, and with the bold 90s colours, they can really stand out

Also that is a very large car park for a Chinese restaurant. It's a decent size but they do spill in to the car park of the next business, it's always busy! once upon a time i worked for Chevron when they were based in Antrobus, interesting to see a roadworthy GR8. Nice! It's a shame they don't get more exposure. I see Ginettas on track all the time at Oulton Park but only ever historic Chevrons, I had no idea they were making new machinery today. One to look in to further, I love that sort of thing. Is nice to see the former "everyday" 90s stuff like the fiesta, Corsa b and k11 Micra getting a bit of love, look really tidy when cleaned up, and with the bold 90s colours, they can really stand out I've definitely noticed that over the last year or so there's a big thing for 90s superminis, particularly Micra K11s and Corsas. It's fascinating, although I'm old enough to have seen them all first time round and I find myself sounding like my Dad when he talks about Hillman Minxes and Mk1 Cortinas - "I had one of those when they were new" etc...
