The fuel tank appears to have been fitted under the seat (reminds me of my old series 1 Landrover), Have sorted through boxes of bits and have found control levers and new shoes for centrifugal clutch.
Tried engine from front wheel drive SIMCA... much better fit. Flat sump houses water pump and Starter, distributor etc position will make for much tidier installation. Crossflow head so exhaust will exit in RH side.
Interesting project - Co-incidence - My grandad worked for Ransomes in Ipswich for all of his working life - retired in mid 70's - he's long since departed this earth but he would have loved to see something like this being restored
Some progress.... everything freed up on this side and gearbox checked..OK. Paint not 'factory' colours, OK for me though as it's rather what I'd got hanging around in the garage. Once all basic structure, tracks, bearings etc. checked over I can get ahead with the engine transplant... have decided on SIMCA power as I have all the parts and am struggling to find any info on the model of Lombardini Diesel engine that came with it.
Will repair the sump on the Lombardini engine, can't find any info on it fore I strip it down. Maybe It may be a model that's 'out of the ark.' Will try to get it going sometime in the future. It might be of some use to somebody??
