Hi all, just putting this up in case it might help anyone considering doing the same swap. I'm putting a 2.3 Kompressor in but without the supercharger and fitting a turbo instead. I've seen some of these swaps going up to about 400hp but I'll be starting this off with about 250 just to see how everything goes. So far I have the engine in with the original 190 gearbox and have the engine in the right position with the gearbox bolted back in its original mounting position and starting on the engine mounts.

This is going to run a Speeduino ECU so I machined a case from clear acrylic, not completely finished, still have to machine the front for the connector.

Good engine choice for a 190, but why the custom mounts?

Good engine choice for a 190, but why the custom mounts? The original 190 mounts won't fit to this engine and the later mounts for the W202(the C class that came after the 190) put the engine in the wrong place.

Some inlet work. The original Kompressor comes with a plastic inlet manifold and fully electronic throttle body. Very bulky and too modern looking for the install. I also have an alloy inlet from a spare C class engine. This has a semi mechanical throttle body. The throttle body is going to be replaced with a mechanical BMW E36 throttle body. The Merc one is 57mm and the BMW one is 66mm so more airflow. Merc on the left, BMW on the right. I need an adaptor to fit the BMW throttle body so I machined one for it. Throttle body fitted, the holes for the cable to fit just need to be filed to square holes instead of round so the Merc throttle cable will fit.

You want the mounts from a 190 with the m102 engine, the m111 drops straight in on those. Might save you some hassle getting custom ones cast. Love the machining on the throttle body mounting, very neat work.

Love the machining on the throttle body mounting, very neat work. I took a M102.910 out of this and the mounts are completely different to the M111, different bolt patterns on the blocks. Is there a specific M102 mount to use?

I'll be starting this off with about 250 just to see how everything goes. I've something around that from the same engine still using the S/C and it's a quick car. Yours will be quicker still and a total animal I'd imagine once you start heading for 300+. I don't know about your target 400 bhp and the engine staying in one piece but there's many that have turbo'ed these running 320+bhp without issues. Looking forward to updates. Bookmarked.

I've seen your thread and that car is nice, I daily a '99 C180. What part of the country are you in? At least I'll have the cheap tax on this one as its over 30 now. For anyone in the UK who thinks they have expensive road tax, a car with this engine that's under 30 years old, motor/road tax is €994(£850) annually. Mine will be €56 as the car is over 30.

This seems like one of these threads where the project seems way too easy when phrases such as 'so I machined one up' get dropped in like that is an entirely normal thing to be able to do... haha I can't wait to see how this turns out!
Going to be a mega fun car!

Couldn't get the phone in there to take pics but the numbers are 601223004 for the right side, and 1112230704 for the left side. The right side mount is common across many engines, the left side is harder to find.
