Ok! It took all day to make the carbs work properly but I got it. Being that they are MX bike carbs- they absolutely needed LESS air coming into them, so I restricted the airbox with some filter elements that I had. Once I got the carbs right- the blade pitch? Waaaay too much lol I adjusted it in the craft, I used a scrap of steel as a guide to make them all the same. Once I got that correct- it starts easily and it screams. The sweet spot RPM is about 8200-8900. I also routed my tacho wires to read correctly. I feel I have the blade pitch matching the peak RPM's. I can fine tune it later, but I'm working alone again today and there's nobody to help me unload it and film. I'll get a new video as soon as my buddy comes over to help. The hovercraft has so much thrust now- that it wanted to push the trailer off it's blocks! So- this will have to do:

Great news, looking forward to the video Hows the vibration ? The vibration isn't bad at all. Mostly it's the divider plate between the lower hull and the upper fan cowl. it's thin fiberglass and it seems to bounce up and down a little until the blades are realllly spinning. I could strengthen it I suppose. Hopefully today I will get it outside for a test!

Sunday Update? So it fired right up this morning but then lost spark. AGAIN. I'd been battling this since I got the donor snowmobile. I assumed it was a bad coil and CDI, which both I replaced last week. Intermittent no spark. The only other thing left is the stator- so I pulled it apart and had a look. YEP- right there, a dodgy old repair that finally lost connection. I've ordered a new one, so it'll be a few days before I run the thing again.

Hi, It's like that sometimes, 'everything in your favour is against you', It certainly is here at times.

Wednesday update: Stator arrived! Fired right up. Test hover? Meh. Kept bogging. Wouldn't rev out. Attributed to incorrect carburetor jetting. I have those! I also set float level and changed the main needle to a smaller one. SUCCESS!! It's fast, it hovers and boy does it run right! I'm planning the filming of a water crossing. On the dry gravel- it makes a HUUUGE dust cloud! I drove it right in the garage. More fun later. Thanks for watching!!

Everything I know about hovercrafts came from that one video where he was talking to the guy with the racing hovercrafts! That is exactly the one! I bought this hunk of junk- then I found that video. I watched it several times and decided that I knew enough to get started! hahahaha
The guy I spoke with on the phone is buddies with the Kevin guy from that video. Between the 2 sources- I set off to get it done. It's good, but I know it can always be better-faster I mean

Update on the hovering thing: Under full chat- the belt was slipping. So I made a tensioner from a motorcycle chain roller and a few bolts. Tighten the bolt and it pushes the roller against the outside of the belt, just like they do on cars. Worked excellent. I gave the blades 2mm more pitch and this holds the engine at a solid 9200 rpm. I could lower that by adding a little more but I need to get it out on some tarmac to really see what it's doing. I have also added an airfoil splitter extension. This increased lift force by a LOT. Forward thrust is increased as well. I'm fine tuning the carburetors before it gets a proper test over water because it is a snowmobile piston port engine and they're designed to be super rich for very cold temps. I'm as lean as I can go with the jets I have on hand. It's almost perfect but I need one more jet smaller and this thing will be as crisp as the crack of a whip. Parts on the way.
