I’ve decided to leave the car show scene for a while The recent new house purchase means I’ve got plans for next spring/summer and I’ve grown a bit tired of the show scene atm The Mondeo is a show car really and I don’t want to use it for normal purposes So this will be sold on and I’m looking to replace it with a small van for use at home over the coming months

I’m glad I decided to scratch the Jaguar itch again The S type I think was better choice than the s class merc I was contemplating too Just added a few personal touches and keeping her sparkly clean, oil and filter change over Xmas and when the weathers better a full waxoyl and underseal to keep her well protected

Finally finished the lowered springs all round on the Mondeo But the front seems a bit to high, going to leave it to settle for a while, just need to order some new number plates and get in for an mot now the saloons are soo much better-looking than the hatches

Today I decided to remove the sill covers on the Jaguar I got completely bored with a family member telling me over the Xmas I’d bought probably one of the worst cars ever This from a know all who only buys new tat to try and Impress everyone, you know the sort of person all talk and no action and just generally the family bore every year!……but I decided I needed to investigate if the sill rot was prevalent on this car Luckily this one just has some surface rust So I got the trusted grinder out and got it back to bare metal Then gave it some rust treatment and a good waxoyl underseal I’ve ordered some new clips for the sill covers as a few broke when I removed them Apart from that another small job done

Every family has one! My old man finished restoring a scimitar SS1, which was closely followed by the usual ‘fire death trap yada yada’ from our resident ‘expert’

You cant choose your family... but you can choose to not see them I tend to follow that rule lol Tbh we’ve got a great forum here for like minded car people My want for an s type was triggered by@piston popper on here No doubt this year someone will buy something here and I’ll want to try one too People outside our hobby can’t and don’t understand the car hobby and the need to buy cars not many others would take the risk on owning Take the mgf and rover R8s great cars owned many and not one head gasket needed!!!…….oh But the pub experts know differently “cos me old mate Bob had one and there cr@p …..I’d buy another tomorrow great cars , take a risk on a Jaguar and don’t listen to the “experts “ 👍

A good few weeks now into S type ownership And still smitten with the car It’s just a great old cruiser, with plenty of kick when required 😁

Always liked the S type Jags Shame they aren't the best to work on in the engine bay for space sometimes tho (And out of curiosity, what's with the odd number plate font?)

So today the gearbox selector lever shat itself and the lever went sloppy ….but perhaps I was being heavy handed and to ad insult to injury the car was on my neighbours drive whilst they were away for the weekend I couldn’t select any gears and the car was Parked nose to nose with the neighbours fiat 500 she needs for Monday morning , whoops Luckily I managed to strip the console and lever down and found that the plastic selector part had disintegrated I’ve found a complete selector unit on the bay And manually selected reverse gear and got it back onto our driveway Still surprisingly easily to work on for what I see as a modern car And I’m still smiling I do love this old beast…..Mondeo into service this week for the commute

Replaced the auto shifter tonight Easy straightforward job and now my luxury old cruiser is back on the road I can’t understand some peoples opinion of these old jags I absolutely love it, it’s definitely on par with the E class mercs I’ve owned both W211 and W210 models

The Mondeo has been in my ownership for a while now Had a good run out in it yesterday It’s been sat on the driveway for weeks I did advertise for a few weeks but selling now has become very tedious Had some completely daft people on it, the world of buying and selling older cars ain’t the fun it used to be I do miss not having a Mercedes around so the Mondeo will be sold to the right person eventually The S type is proving to be a very reliable old car and the fuel consumption is very reasonable I’m using it every day and enjoying the old cruiser , it’s sparkly clean now after a few hours detailing this weekend too
