Needs to be run up to temp, then dump the water and add coolant. Replace a missing engine mount nut, get the speedo cable back on (it was being irritating and the bolt threaded). Then we're back on the road! Stick a dishwasher tablet in it before you run it up and when you do drop the water out reverse flush it

I once put washing up liquid in the dishwasher which ended up costing me an engineer, I'm not falling for this again 😂

I just found your thread, awesome car! Looks like your on the right way with it. However, looking at this picture I was a bit shocked. These tires are from 1995! They are absolutely not safe to drive anymore. Correct me if my eyes deceive me and I misread that DOT number but please check this and safe yourself a crash. Max I've no idea but I'll check, cheers!!

Found my mojo again with the Scirocco, treated it to a full service, oil and filter, air filter, flushed the coolant then fresh coolant, new gearbox oil. Took it for a spin and it feels like a new car, the gearbox is lovely with the new bushes and engine is lovely and quiet in the right way. Feels like it's got a boost in power and really flies. Never realised what a difference fresh bushes makes to a gearbox. The speedo doesn't work as I've not installed the cable back in correctly, the indicators are being twitchy which I know is the stalk (managed to previously get them working again with some finessing of the stalk but forgotten how, new stalk on order) and need to check the tyres for age. Apart from that it's good to go! Forgotten what it's like to have 2 projects actually running, won't be long before something falls off the herald I'm sure...

Yes it works surprisingly well and won't end up in a foamy mess like fairy liquid in a dishwasher. Mate who used to specialize in overcooked Rover K series used to swear by it...

Now that the scirocco is almost up and running and done, I've given and got another project... This may mean the rocco has to find a new home, update to come. In the mean time I'll start a fresh thread for the incomer but here it is!
