Revs higher and and indicated 220 kph vmaxx achieved Is the gearing particularly short on these? I managed to get 220kmh GPS in my Fiesta ST150 (MP165 so 165bhp, similar power but more weight than your Speedster) on the Autobahn, and I always thought the gearing was fairly short in that. The black looked good once you'd darkened the various bits, but have to say the green also works really well. Looking forward to reading through the rest of the thread! The NA and the Turbo have the same Getrag 5-speed gearbox. On the turbo both final drive and fifth gear ratios have been raised . N.A..... 1st: 3.58, 2nd: 2.02, 3rd: 1.35, 4th: 0.98, 5th: 0.81, RVS: 3.31, Final drive: 3.95 Turbo... 1st: 3.58, 2nd: 2.02, 3rd: 1.35, 4th: 0.98, 5th: 0.79, RVS: 3.31, Final drive: 3.63 My car is supposed to top out at 135 MPH (217 KM/H). I believe the Turbo's went to 151 MPH

My mate had a supercharged VX220 that went like a stabbed angry rat and handled brilliantly. He had an accident that meant he is on blood thinning drugs so had to give up motorcycles (he used to race and also instruct at a track) so bought the VX and it gave hime the closest he could get to bike performance in hi words. Eventually the engine gave up in a very impressive explosive way!

Any idea what kind of hp he was running? Xavi's silver one is at about 240 hp right now but he is talking about going again and heading for 300 hp.

Next up - the headrests. On the Speedster/VX there are 2 sections cut out of the roll bar and some flat sections welded in to which a headrest is attached. I have gone through a lot of threads and it's inconclusive as to the actual validity of these pieces. I don't like them so I took the grinder to them. I cut at this seemingly skew angle as this was where there was a crease in the steel. I'll tidy them up of course but it was very satisfying. Also, please note I did have the blanket covering all the glass when the actual cuts were made.

With the Tullet inbound I needed to take the incumbent off. This is a standard downpipe and cat but the restrictive pre-cat had already been removed. In any case it's not needed now. While I was at it I revisited the EGR set-up. When we fitted the 2.4 manifold we had to machine up a small blanking plate for the back of the head. The original nuts went on with spacers as we were keen to get it running. This was not an elegant solution so I pulled it off and trimmed the nuts. I removed the EGR itself and as expected it had been fiddled with before and blanked off. It was looking rusty so I cleaned it up and shot it with some VHT paint and reinstalled.

I really like these, I think the green will really stand out as well.
Do these have the same chain oiling issues that the 2.2 Astra did, or was that fixed on these? I had a 2.2 sri Astra that sadly demised with a snapped chain, I still have the 17" wheels in the garage though!
Great to see it being used properly though.

Complcations meant he had to go on blood thinners but he's all good otherwise. His car was running about 280-290 apparently. I just know it was frighteningly fast and made a glorious noise.

It is the same engine that was in a lot of European GM models, Astra, Zafira, Signum. The upside to these is that they are plentiful and cheap so even if it did go pop it's not the end of the world.

I mentioned earlier that I had a possible solution for unwanted water ingress. It is this I'm not sure on it yet but I'll clean it up and trial it when the car is back together.

Next thing was a bit of future proofing. Another, while I'm in there job. If I go down the route of head upgrades in future the standard injectors will run out of puff. Xavi had some extra 370cc injectors which he kindly donated. Time to pull the fuel rail. It is a relatively painless job and not very messy, especially when all the bits around it are already off. Depressurize the rail Undo the hardline fixings and two bolts I pulled the rail out with the wiring still attached. It was fine and was less fiddly to removed the connections when the rail was up. It was a bit messier though as I was juggling the rail with the wiring attached trying to catch fuel. Dirty in there I hit a snag then. Plug and Play may have been optimistic So that has stopped play here for the moment. I need to change connectors. Firstly, I need to buy some. In other news, my manifold bolts arrived. Packaging solution is a bit much though !!

After some back and forth with those more knowledgeable that I, the decision has been made to stick with the standard injectors for now. They may be up to the task if I upgrade the head in future and if not then they are easy to access with the clam on.
I'm waiting for a few pieces to arrive, specifically the ECU, the Tullet, an order of rivnuts and some engine degreaser. My plan is to button it back up at the end of February but the ECU might be an issue as it needs to get back from the Netherlands and it has not arrived there as yet.

Small update: The Tullet is in Germany at Xavi's post box so that's en route. The ECU has finally arrived in NL which is good... oh and I have degreaser. Now if only I could find some Rivnuts ;-)

I had forgotten these thanks for posting. Love your colour choice.
Are your new injectors Bosch EV14s - slim black plastic design? The reason I ask is because the old Bosch EV1 injectors are slow in operation compared to the newer Bosch EV14's. If you fit them you might find the injector dead times need to be reduced. I had fueling problems at idle and tip-in moving to larger EV14 injectors from EV1 which no matter how much I adjusted the fuel tables, could only be properly resolved by reducing the injector deadtime, you might find the same with your Speedster.
