There is always a lot of chatter about the "failings" of the VX over the Elise. It's easily rectified with a couple of cheap parts, new wheels and a geo set up.
You don't have to go as far down the road as I have to get it right. I don't know what the market is looking like in the UK right now but they have all gone up to the price of the equivalent S2 Elise here.
I bought this one cheaply and don't mind playing with it and driving it hard as a result. We are looking at buying a house here so I have contemplated selling this as my 86 will arrive next month and having cash on hand is a priority at present. Unexpectedly when I mentioned this to my wife yesterday she said "don't do it" so I guess I'm holding on to it for a while longer.
I bought it at 147k and it's now on 168k so I'd like to take it to 200k.

Hopefully not too much longer for the GR! Until then hopefully the weather's good and the speedster's getting plenty of use?

Hopefully not too much longer for the GR! Until then hopefully the weather's good and the speedster's getting plenty of use? I fear it may be quite a bit longer as some information was given to people in Germany yesterday as follows: "Actually the latest news from a local dealer in Germany where the first showroom and test cars were supposed to be delivered last week: “The delivery of all GR86 cars are suspended until further notice due to an unspecified quality control issue. No expected new delivery time is available but it seems there will be no quick fix for the issue” Now, the flip side is (as you mention) the Speedster is getting loads of use. There is another positive to the delay which is really quite significant. I have not posted much about the Speedster lately as I am really thinking about selling it. No one wants me to sell it, that includes myself. However, we are trying to buy a house and I'm looking at everything about me that has value and is non-essential. If the 86 is delayed a bit then the Speedster stays essential as I need a car. It does not mean the Speedster is completely safe but if it makes it to September I think it will hang around.

Seet, wish they did the Yaris in more interesting colours. How long until you take delivery?

I see online that a bunch of people are being told there is a recall and they won't get the car for a while. I have not been told anything about this potential delay yet.

They come with the plate box but we have small front plates here so I asked the dealership to take it off at PDI. It seems they are excited by the car as well as the salesman went out and did it for me straight away! He does drive a Supra though so an enthusiast. Cool fact about this dealership is the last customer (before me) to buy a GR product from them was Sebastian Loeb. He lives near Lausanne I believe but hopped on the train and took the 4 hour journey up to this small dealership to buy his GR Yaris.

I went to see it. It's even better in the metal. However, they cannot give it to me yet. They don't know why. There is definitely some factory hold for a recall. My sales guy thinks 50-80 in Switzerland for the first round (no idea how long a period that spans). Someone tried to buy my car from them already. Seems there are only 2 bright blue ones in the country.

The star of this thread is still about even if the new entrant is trying to muscle in. I have not washed it since I put the wrap on. It's covered in brake dust and pollen and bugs including a massive hornet that met its demise in the front grille earlier this week. It is a wonderful thing. I still chuckle at how it attracts the undivided attention of two very diverse demographic sections; kids under 10 and women over 70.

I made a mess of my knee playing a football match about 6 weeks ago. In pure gender profiling fashion I ignored the instability, pain and swollen knee in the hope it would just go away itself. Surprise, surprise.... it did not. So I finally went to the specialist and a rapid succession of check, MRI and knee operation later (all within 9 days) I'm recovering from a fix to both the meniscus and the ACL. What the hell is he banging on about I hear you mutter to yourself. Well, there is a point, relevant to the Speedster, which I will finally get to. I can't use my clutch leg so I've had to take custody of the 528. This meant that my better and more ambulatory half has had to use the Toad. This usage allowed me to observe the car on the move and I noticed a distinct lack of off-side rear brake light yesterday. I enlisted the sprogs to diagnose the fault today and it turned out to be the standard melted housing issue. Here, the bulb would not extract from the housing. That's out now - ish You can see the heat from the bulb melts the housing which eventually melts to the bulb. Wrong Right...er Of course I don't have a bulb in the pile of bits hanging around

The rear lamp holder harness was only supplied with the lamp but I do have one here if you get stuck

Incredible number of retros knocking around at the moment. I do tend to be driving so snaps are few. Just thought I'd share this one.

86 release is delayed again.....to September at the earliest.
I'm surprised none of the automotive journalists have asked Toyota for a reason. They are stone walling customers (and maybe the dealerships).
