Not sure if this fits the topic. I believe we are entering an era of blandness, the most common colours seem to be white silver and black, the range of body styles seems to be reducing to crossover or suv, the Germans do seem slightly better with a few estate models but the saloons have been crossed with coupes, making them 4 door There are a few bright spots of design, but mostly seems to be a monochromatic world of similar vehicles all styled by wind tunnel and boasting the number/size of touchscreen fitted Ttfn Glenn

Agree. So many new cars that are all but invisible in the right (wrong?) conditions. Where have all the colours gone?

I don't think it's just cars, it's everything being greyscale. Cars, houses, appliances. All lacking any colour at all.
Remember how everything in the 70s was brown? It's like that now but with black, white and grey. It's a fashion that people will look back on with nostalgic bemusement (and vague horror if you're invested in whatever's in fashion in the future).

So from a sales point of view it is more cost effective to provide a range of those colours on the forecourt than it is to do more interesting colours. Which is a shame as there are some great colour options out there from some manufacturers, but they have to be specced and that means delay in delivery, so people drive the more bland colour off the forecourt. It'll swing around again though.

Remember how everything in the 70s was brown? . Not really how I remember it - I mostly remember it by the colours of Raleigh Choppers so looked for a traffic video.

Yep the mk3 escort released in 1980 From my own experience the worst car for rust protection in the Ford range ever, I’ve had cortina mk1s and 2s that lasted years before they succumbed to rot The escort 80 rotted out within five years IIRC there was an issue relating to the quality of steel used for cars made in certain plants. I think at the time if you had one that was assembled at Saarlouis you were OK, but not if it a Halewood or Almussafes built car. Our next next door neighbour had an early MK4 GL on an '85 plate and it literally dissolved on his drive, whereas a mate had a base model MK3 and it lasted for years.
