Triumph 2000 MK 11 LJK 958L
Specification:
Painted in Ice Blue with a Blue Cloth Interior
Manual with an A Type Overdrive
Factory Fitted Power Steering Heated Rear Window
History:
Registered in Eastbourne in October 1972
The Second Owner bought it in Eastbourne in late 1975 had it undersealed and Dinitrolled before taking to his then home in Hertfordshire.
The Third Owner bought it form a retirement home in Christchurch in 1990
The Speedometer reads 68,+++ miles but the angle drive on the overdrive failed and so this could be wrong by up to 10,000 miles. Otherwise the mileage is believed to be genuine.
The Car was laid up in 1993 and initially stored outside. It was driven on trade plates to a lock up Garage in 1998 and then moved to a barn in 2001 in which it has remained ever since. Unfortunately both the garage and the barn were damp hence its present condition.
Condition Body:
This is a very straight and restorable car but known problems are as follows
The integrity of the outer sills appears to be fine but the sill strentheners at the front are compromised with rust probably due to the drainage points being full of wax which has also destroyed both front outriggers and the area of floor immediately above them. This is worse on the nearside. If the present owner were to be involved with the restoration he would remove the front wings and drop the outer sill and sill strengthener from the car and replace the whole of the sill strengthener along with the jacking points.
There is a small hole in the front of the LH wheelarch where it meets the wing lip
There is a small hole in front upper panel just next to the drainage channel on the RH front wing
There is rust on the rear corner of both rear wing arches but is not holed.
There is surface rust which should be obvious in the photographs.
Condition Mechanically:
The engine was turned over relatively recently but not started – there is probably muck in the system which needs cleaning. It has not been run since 1999 and when it was running was very sweet and economical.
The Clutch pedal is solid and it is not possible to determine what is causing it.
The Brakes are free to move the vehicle
Although a Factory Reconditioned unit the LH output shaft on the differential was leaking slightly but can be run if checked and filled regularly.
The windscreen shattered just before it was taken off the road and was replaced with a Laminated Screen – the rubber needs changing as one was not available when the windscreen was changed on the roadside.
Due to frost damage the heater matrix needs an overhaul, it is presently by-passed
Interior:
Unfortunately due to the damp the cloth on the rear seats has been compromised in some places but could be addressed by taking material from unseen places – no attempt has been made to hide these problems – they are very obvious.
Conclusion:
For an enthusiast this car represents a very viable restoration, but it is now nearly 49 years old. For the serious buyer a viewing is highly recommended so you can see exactly what you are undertaking
It is a Condition of this sale that this car has to be Restored or offered back to the seller. Under no circumstances is it to be used for racing and that is a condition in this Contract of Sale.
Pictures to follow later this week.
Price: £2,500 ovno. Reduced to £2250 ono. Reduced again to £2050. 19.10.21.
