looking good, Does the Stag have those stupid angled studs like the TR7? As does the 1850 Slant 4. It's what killed the first engine in my Dolomite. That cylinder head was virtually welded to the block.

looking good, Does the Stag have those stupid angled studs like the TR7? Yup it does. 4 out of 5 were seized. First one came out easily with the stud extractor and I got a bit giddy thinking this was going to be easy, the next 3 snapped off! Hence jacking the head up and cutting the studs. Horrible job. I think I’ll need to tackle the RH head over winter

It's worth sticking some aluminium anti-seize on them if you're refitting them. Makes it much easier to remove the next time around.

You should put a link on the triumphstag.freeforums.net/ Hi, the Stag forum has gone quiet/stale. Copper slip on everything. I’ll also undo and re torque every year. Not looking forward to doing the right hand one, think I’ll invest in a good battery impact driver

With the battery impact drivers, I bought one a couple of weeks ago, supposed to be rated to 540 new meters. However, it couldn’t undo wheels nuts torqued to 100nm. Apparently a vast majority of them can’t undo things that are torqued up. But they will do something that’s just rusted up tight. Very very good at undoing or tightening things up a lot easier than using a hand ratchet. If you want one to really get seriously seized on bolts off you’ve got to go for a branded make, like Milwaukee, Hilti or snap on. Not at all cheap but at least they’ll do the job. Or just use an pneumatic one.

Hopefully today and tomorrow I’ll be left alone. Need to get it done today because my son wants me to take him to his prom tomorrow night.

Managed to get the stag sorted in time for my sons prom. Finished it at 8pm the night before. Of course it then had to rain for his prom! Still, he was chuffed I could take him and 2 of his mates. We had a little convoy of classics. A spitfire, my Stag, a Ferrari 355, XR3, MG midget and a Cobra replica. Pretty good entrance
