I've been thinking about one of these as a bit of a different looking daily driver (3.0 V6 CRD) and prices have got pretty low now Has anyone owned one? I understand the diesel engine is meant to be pretty good being the Mercedes OM642 unit? I've always liked the look of them but interested to hear what to look out for and what commonly goes wrong etc I think the estates look quite cool too:

The estate is one of the most gorgeous estates out there in my opinion.
Like most Chryslers of that era you get a lot of car for your money, but interior build quality is cheap and plasticky. They wear out front suspension very quickly, random stalling seems to be a common fault, and electrical gremlins with air bags, stereos, auto boxes getting stuck, abs lights are pretty common.
If you find one with the 'Bentley' front grille please do us all a favour and kill it with fire.

I thought the interiors would be a bit plastic fantastic but that doesn't put me off too much.
Any that come up with the faux Bentley grill I discount immediately, can only imagine what sort of previous owners they've had

I went out (as passenger) in one of the first ones in the country when I worked at a dealer for what can only described as a joyride. Smoothest ride ive ever had at [coughs] mph. I don't know anything about any problems they may have, I just know they drive nice and the estates look like they are hewn out of a lump of iron.

Thanks for that, some good info in there. I'm still on the research stage but I haven't seen anything to massively put me off just yet

Good to hear, the tyre sidewalls look huge on the standard 18s, I think they're something like a 225/60 so I'd imagine that'd help the ride a lot

Looks amazing though.

I owned one for about 6 months in 2014. It was a 57 Plate 3.0 Diesel and it was honestly one of the nicest cars to drive that I've owned (and the list includes BMWs, Jags and Porsches). I bought it for a European road trip and it was brilliant. 4 adults, loads of luggage and 3 weeks travelling through France, Belgium, Germany, Holland and Sweden. It didn't miss a beat, returned over 30mpg and cruised effortlessly at 100mph. It was really comfortable, looked stunning and imposing and several people I know thought it was a Bentley!! Oh, and the stereo was awesome. Only sold it because I bought a Chevy Truck and didn't have room for both. I'd have another anytime.

Currently driving a '68 Karmann Ghia as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!
