Are there any models of cars from the 30s/40s/50s that would work as a base for a hotrod along the same lines as the US 1932 Fords like this?
I know 50s Ford Pops are popular as bases for hotrods but what else? Something like 30s or 40s Austins maybe?

Let's not forget there was a version of the 32 Ford built right here in Britain. They were only (to the best of my knowledge) available as 2 and 4 door saloons and there are minor differences in the body shell compared to the US versions. The UK/European versions were also built up to 1934 unlike the American one which was a one year only deal. I think this one's a '34 as it has different shaped wings. Wasn't there another thread on British based hot rods? If someone can find it and put a link it might save a bunch of repeats.

Was the British built '32 Ford a Model B4 with the same four cylinder running gear as the Model A rather than the V8?

Vauxhalls of the 30s and 40s are very stylish things. Unfortunately quite rare.

I was going to put this in the spotted thread, but its not my spot, its someone elses. Its not only a Rod, its a RatRod. Not only that, I think it might be my personal car of the year, possibly decade [insert little medieval fanfare complete with trumpets with those little flags on] I mean, just look at it. Look. At. It.

1930s and 40s Austins are nice looking cars though they have incredibly high roof lines. The problem with old British cars is that they're almost all four door saloons. If you can find a coupe or a roadster you´ll be very lucky. Or you´ll have to make one.

If someone can find it and put a link it might save a bunch of repeats. ‘Minor differences’ in that the entire body is completely, totally different in design and construction. They’re wood framed for starters. The only bits that are the same are the rolling chassis (except the steering, being RHD. Even the steering wheel is different) and the front fenders are the same. Everything else is different- body, dash, cowl, bonnet, etc. etc. They bear a passing resemblance but are in reality a totally different car. The 33/34 model 14 is different again, they only really share the chassis with American models as the front fenders are different. But then a 4cyl chassis is substantially different to a v8 one too...

Morris 8. nickwheeler is this what I looked at last week ? It is. Although that one has the front wings mounted further forward than standard and the rear wings have been widened. The CAD chassis mockup for my budget project: This is what Rhian looked at:

Not a chance; it's tiny. 1400mm across the rear wings, and the wheelbase is about 2200mm.
