I was recently contemplating the Riley RMA as a basis for a hot rod build (actually closer to a lowrider bomb build with hot rod influences): It made me think that there must be a whole bunch of suitable British cars that could make for interesting hot rod bases. Obviously sit up and beg Ford Pop and Anglias are well represented, but what else has been done? (Will also accept pre-war European cars as a bonus)

Hillman 14/Humber Hawk would be my choice. They're not as oddly proportioned as most British cars of that era.

Not a Pop... Think I'd rather do one the other way round, Pop body which has the rear wheels in the correct place that rear wheels should be and a Standard Eight front end as they're quite pretty.

Ooh I can kind of join in here. I have all the bits ready to build my idea of a perfect non ford brit rod. I'm lucky that a friend of mine ( will_nic on insta) is a wizard and can create images from my brain. I have chassis, body and a little 1100 honda v4 engine. I just need life to give me time to build. Currently in this state:

Here's mine from a few years back. 1948 Morris Six, Ford 460 (7.5l). Found as a wreck in a farmyard near Northampton around 1994. It's still about in Surrey. Bumpers weren't on in most of the pics.

Daimler does it for me although any Brit tin of similar shape from this era would work just as well.

A few from my archives:- Both Fords but not Pops. I think this started life as a Morris but I may be dead wrong. This is a Standard, but far from it too. Not British but it is pre war European so acceptable. Austin 16
