Only just realised after you were talking about that gear knob that it is you building baby godzilla as well. You do have all the best toys. Just as a side note. I know you say its impractical but that front bumper does look amazing on it. Yeah, that's me alright, if I hadn't of bought this then the pulsar should be nearly all there by now, probably be looking at just giving it to a body shop to finish the rest off for me, it will still be done mind, I just want to get the skyline running perfectly (with a couple more ponies) and then I will hammer forwards with the pulsar

Changed out the rocker cover gaskets, bolts and grommets yesterday, I was surprised how clean the top end was inside for it being 27 years old.

Indicators could have LED bulbs in . My Scirocco had normal front & LED rear bulbs fitted , did exactly the same as yours , ok on hazard but fast when just indicating . Finally got round to looking at the indicators today, turns out it didn't have led bulbs, just the wrong wattage bulb, the fronts both had 5 watt bulbs in them whereas it's meant to have 21 watt bulbs.

Just by the look of the "added" wiring on the headlights I knew something was adrift, there was a extra homemade loom with relay etc, all p*ss poorly put together and more of a fire hazard then a fix. After a bit of reading on the Internet I found issues with voltage drop/dull headlights so people make these looms to overcome this, curious, I disconnected it and reverted back to the factory loom, no power, another quick scour over the interballs and the fuses were located, both blown, replace and all is working, strangely working better than before, I wonder if they attempted this DIY loom or they just couldn't find the fuses? There are tucked away in the boot and there is 3 fuse boxes to choose from. I will monitor for the time being. Quite a mess really, poorly made and installed 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕 Also changed a few hoses over, the original hoses were not in the best of shape so they needed replacement. Just the top and bottom radiator hoses to go, needed to get some new hose clamps before I could fit them

Got back to doing a few maintenance bits over the past couple days, first on the agenda was to change the worn PS, Alternator and AC belts, these had just started to slip and squeal and oh my, surprised they hadn't fricken snapped.. Next was to sort out the turbo intake pipe, this was what would be described as terrible. The very clear Y-piece meant for a set of washer jets was where the boost solenoid leak off pipe was fitted to, this was also clearly not creating a seal and was fitted after the MAF so there would of been some discrepancies in read air flow (although very minor), with the use of some very thin tin (from the neck of a wine bottle) and some gasket maker i have bodged it for the time being until a new pipe is sourced or fabricated. The flexi pipe connecting it to the turbo was very gash as well, i had bought a new one for it BUT along with loads of other hoses/pipes before i even had seen the car, what the pictures Nor the seller said that it had an aftermarket turbo fitted so this £118 pipe now didn't fit, with the use of a stanley knife i managed to make some of it fit and its overall function be spot on. Next up was the headlights to try to remove some of the oxidation, went okay for a quick 5 minute job, i will properly polish them up with a rotating tool at some point as this was just by hand, there is a visable difference between the dip and main beam lamps. Then we moved onto the very blown suspension, i think all the oil had come out of this shock. I opted for some Tein flex-Z coilovers, these have the same preset spring rate as the standard springs with the added option of adjustable damping, super easy and quick to fit, took me longer to get the rear seat back and and parcel shelf out than it did to actually fit the rear suspension. Spent the night driving round at different speeds and on different roads to get a good over all setting on the adjustable damping, i did't want a harsh ride, I'm too grown up and this is going to be my daily driver for a while until the pulsar gets up and running on the road, didn't slam it too the ground either, just left it where they were set, i reckon its an inch lower but i don't want to go any lower. I will get some pics later if i get the chance. Whilst i was on a roll i decided to swap out the rather dated looking Greddy boost gauge for the AEM unit i had bought for the Pulsar, looks a lot nicer, i may rob the AEM wideband from the pulsar too Should have a new starter motor turning up today so it wont be embarrassing starting it up because jeewiz that thing makes some funky noises upon starting, you have to bury your head in shame when you turn the key, should be some new anti roll bars turning up too, really need to sort the exhaust out as its way too loud, that thing could wake the dead and on my drive to and from Bristol last week i had to wear headphones to drown it out, Front and rear washers are also on my to do list, the bottle is full of slimy sh*t and the lines and jets keep blocking up, there's loads to do, i have a list I'm looking at in which i cross 1 item off and add 5 more, i'll get there at some point, probably be bankrupt and have to sell it.

Today was meant to be a day of swapping out the fuel pump and regulator, but, instead I started a rather "exhausting" job instead, bit late in the day so progress was short but I couldn't put up with annoying drone any longer, especially not at that decible, yeah, loud exhaust are cool and all, but I'm not 17 and this is my daily driver so at least some sense would be ideal. The down pipe was worryingly too easy to get the nuts off the turbo. yet the two bolts going into the cat were being a bunch off c**ts and going nowhere, so after much debating with myself I just sheard them and drilled them out. I did get the back box mounted up, tips welded on and start piping it up towards the front, i also got the center section done but upon fitting the center section with the round straight silencer it was apparent it was just a tad too big so I had to then cut it back off, I have a smaller resinator fitted to a car going to the scrap yard so I will steal that and add it in, the more silencing the better. I'll chuck some photos up when it's all done

Exhaust is complete and not only does it sound less ASBO it also looks less ASBO. It has a nice tone to it and is at a respectful level of decibels. I was going to get some close up shots of my spectacular welding BUT, a bird came in and curse word all over it (I am not a welder). Wouldn't mind building my next exhaust on a lift, working on my back with it all only a few inches away from my face/reach was awkward to say the least. Fitted my new anti roll bars too, the car is finally getting somewhere towards what I want it to be and driving like. Now just to fit the new walbro fuel pump and GFB pressure regulator, straighten the steering wheel, get the horn working, fog lights, mount the gauges properly etc etc, there's a whole big list to be cracking on with, most importantly though I got to enjoy it

Fuel pump is in... Fuel pressure regulator is set up, AFR's are stable(ish) and now it runs how it should. Bueno 👌🏻

So after a couple months away I am now back from work, going to work means having money, having money means I can feed my online purchase addiction, feeding my online purchase addiction means I can fix/modify my cars (mainly fix). I purchased a lovely black japspeed MVT front mount intercooler and set to work fitting that, fairly straight forward, did involve cutting a hole through the inner arch area. Once I had taken the front en off I was met with this delightful view Radiator is falling to pieces, if you touch the fins the fall to pieces so I jumped on the interweb and ordered a new one, I also front a fair amount of corrosion (covered up with underseal) in and around the front clip, I will have to have this replaced at some point, may be cheaper and easier to just pay someone to tube the front end because "japtax" on parts is getting out of hand. This photo shows under the driver's head light, #crusty I fitted some clear side repeater lenses, both original lenses were very old looking, cracked, UV faded etc. Got a new door trim piece as well as the old one was broken, rattling around and covered in a rather tacky carbon fibre wrap that is peeling off.

Although one doesn't work and the other keeps breaking, it's not a bad garage 😁

Turn the key to the "ignition on" position and this happens... Not sure if I should laugh or cry so I'm gunna cry with laughter. Then, then to top it all off my driver's side indicator started flashing fast (again) I immediately thought that as I had just had the front bumper off putting the intercooler in that i probably didn't connect the wiring back together properly or the clip was broken etc, how I was wrong, the lamp itself had come unclipped and f**ked off, I've driven around the roads I recently taken but I couldn't find it, and with the rate of Knott's that I drive at (on empty roads) because skyline, if it had of come off it would of bounced into a hedge and been lost forever, RIP. Just another nail in the coffin to fit a standard front bumper on.

I'm not sure whether to like this: I guess like for using it as intended, a dislike for lost indicators (rip) and rev counter issues!

Got a new Japspeed radiator in record time from fleabay to replace the crumbling unknown origin radiator it came with. I fitted a HKS EVC-S electronic boost controller and whilst i was replacing the vacuum hose to the actuator i noticed the turbo outlet elbow hose was on a bit of a funky angle and the hose clamp wasnt in the best position, it could of been done better so i had a little look into it and found that the hose had been cut with what i can only presume was a spoon and the I.D. of the hose was MASSIVE compared to the turbo outlet, more dissapoinment, more bodging, more for me to rectify. When i got the car the IACV was connected to the recirc valve so it only saw air flow on throttle off, when i purchased a set of new silicone hoses and dump valve to fit i reinstated the IACV, great to have a steady idle for a change that wasnt 1200+rpm, but now it occasionally hunted pretty bad and it felt like it just wasnt running at full power, so i reverted back to being blanked off but made a blanking plate for the intake plennum and had a bung put put in the hose (i cut the end off a 1/2" extension). now it runs like a champ, i would assume it was stuck bleeding off, i had cleaned it 3x before and it was as clean on the inside as the day it was made, clearly an electrical problem with a solenoid. Next i set about fitting my new original parcel shelf, that home made thing it had was awfull, it didn't fit, rattled and hopped around and most of all was UG-LEE. I fashoined up some speaker adapters out of laminate flooring, gave them a good dose of sound deadening and bolted them up for good measure, i also took all the old sound deadening from the rear out out as it had gone to sh*t and replaced it all. I did have to spend £90 on a new battery as the new lack of space in the back meant the battery just wouldnt fit in, i wasnt so sure about the neative terminal becoming part of the speakers magnet so i thought it would be best to just replace it, and knowing my luck with this car and all the things i have found bodged with it the battery is probably full of redbull or coffee instead of distilled water.

Well, its been a while, been up to a bit over the past week or so, i knew last year that a exhaust manifold stud had snapped off in the head on cylinder 6 This meant the engine had to come out, I told myself that if the engine was coming out then i would do a few other things to it whilst i was there, clutch, cambelt etc. What I wasn't expecting was just how far I ended up going in such a short space of time. With the engine out it quickly became apparent it looked like utter curse word and could really do with a clean and a lick of paint, so that it got. This was never to make it look a SEMA build, just to get rid of the dull colour of rusty steel and oxidised aluminium. I stripped the block back, wire wheeled it and slapped some VHT black paint on for good measure. In all, 5 exhaust studs snapped off, they all fortunately came out without too much of a fight I bought a ATC uprated clutch good for 400hp Plus ARP flywheel and clutch bolts This was a smart move as the current clutch had clearly been struggling to handle what little power the engine put out, the fly wheel had the same 3 hot spots as the pressure plate, a trip down to the machine shop soon sorted that out. The turbo shaft had paly in all directions and the manifold looked like wibblepoo (still the standard one) so i set out looking for a suitable replacement, and that replacement was found in the form of a Walton manifold, proper nice looking bit of kit, hella expensive mind. I have a new GTX3071R kicking round so i decided to use that, not exactly the biggest turbo in the world but will be punchy enough and responsive as hell with 6 cylinders pushing it round, I never wanted anything that would create BIG power, just enough if you get my drift. I thought sod it, lets do this right, so I ordered a new intake manifold too. I then proper pushed the f**k it button and went on to order a Haltech elite 2000 ECU, unterminated wiring loom, Haltech IC7 digital display with dash inlay, haltech wideband and all the haltech sensors, TPS and boost controler that you could throw at an engine to make it work. Vibra-technics fast road engine and gearbox mounts Diff bushes And changing hose/pipe fittings for AN type I fitted a Super Forma rear head oil dran, this meant having to drill and tap the head and weld a bung to the sump, after welding to the sump i decided to strip it back and start again as it looked like curse word before I welded to it It was at this point I started to clean off an paint anything i could, I painted up the water pump, cleaned the oil pump, painted the thermostat housing and fitted a new thermostat, painted the rocker covers, fitted some Super Forma press in 10AN swivel breather fittings and with the new intake manifold i fitted a PCV blanking plug, the motor is finally looing nice. Fitted a HKS cambelt and pondered over becoming a proper scene boi and fitting a clear perspex cambelt cover, no, don't do it cooper, leave that to the little nippers. So with not fitting a new cambelt cover I needed to do clean up and paint the old one, came out looking rather nice. I did nearly loose my gentlemn sausage in the process as the wire wheel got snagged in my clothing, it stung a little to say the least, i did the same thing with a drill the other day whilst hunched over and nearly broke my nose as the drill rotated and hit me 3 times on the end of my shnozzel, i had locked the trigger on using the button on the side, just couldnt turn it off, didn't really know what to do yet before i knew it, it had gone round so many times that power cord started to wind around the drill and eventually it pulled the plug out the wall,Ii did the same thing the next day but this time it dragged the angle grinder with it. I was wearing full PPE though. I chucked in new front and rear main seals just because I also purchased a Ross performance crank trigger damper pulley 32-2 tooth with sensor and a Ross performance cam angle trigger kit with sensor. I ordered drifworks front tension arms, front lower conrol arms, front camber arms, rear traction arms, rear camber arms and rear lower control arms, just waiting on some dry weather to fit them, Got a GKteck short shifter, GKtech radiator/slam panel trim, GKtech handbreak lever to get rid of the tack chrome thing thats currently fitted and a GKtech brake master cylilnder stopper. I fitted new front disc's, pads and flexi hoses, got to repair the front hard lines as they both broke when undoing the fitting from the flexi hose, rather they broke now then later when I'm pushing on the pedal at a great rate of Knotts, will also be cleaning up and dressing the engine bay before the motor goes back in, some surface rust here and there. Got rid of those horrible 2000 sex spec halfords wheels the car came with, I received some OEM Mitsibushi evo wheels, not sure if they look chavy or not in white, i will have a think about it, they definately need some higher side walled tyres, they're like rubber bands ffs. Back in august I lost an indicator from the front bumper, the bumper is an aftermarket type that I dislike and plan to change in the future, so without investing too much money, time or effort I picked up a cheap pair of motorbike indicators and fiberglassed them into the bumper, that should do fo the time being, got MOT in march so needed to do something. She looks alright now, far cry from what it used to look like

Great car. Bookmarked and looking forward to updates. It looks like it's been badly treated in the past but in better hands now. Those death wheels on the grinders scare me a lot!

Got to love those afterburner rear lights! That manifold is stunning, I'd happily put that on my coffee table and just stare at it all day long! Looks like your doing a cracking job on this. Is the colour AN0 or AR1? Hard to tell from the pics but either way it's a lovely colour. Wheels for me would have to be TE37's
