i wonder if a small Kamm tail would work john , to demarina-ize . That's a good call, thank you for that. It would certainly add a bit of character into what is, in my opinion, a featureless back end. Featureless!? As modest as you clearly are, you need to remember that YOU have done amazing work on this, that is the number one feature!!! Also, I feel the lights completely remove it from the Marina, so IMHO no need to worry...

You're building an Aston! Great work. No, it's not an Aston but certainly a nod to an Aston in the grille and the rear light arrangement. But if you look at this view it's more like a Marina Coupé which doesn't please me that much Resemblance to other marques have been mentioned by forum members which all goes to show that we all see things differently. I don't think it's an Aston, but more of the basic 60s coupe outline applied to your donor dimensions. As that's a very small car it can't be as sleek as a larger car, which means paying even more attention to the proportions and detailing. It looks good, so you're doing that. I was going to describe it as 'stumpy' but that sounds awfully judgemental and derogatory. I can't see the Marina in it; yours has vertical tail lights, a shaped back window, tapered roof and a distinct hipline. A full width bumper with details like over riders, chrome around the lights and light apertures, fancy tailpipe and a pretty boot handle/lock/badge-plinth will all help disguise the flatness of the back panel.

Blimey, that's a lot of embellishments which I don't disagree with and if I were 31 instead of 81 I'd be happy to add another couple of years to the job to incorporate them. I can never remember whether it was Disraeli or Gladstone, the former I think who was described as "An old man in a hurry". I know how he felt. I've just checked and it was Gladstone

You could always use stainless Mini bumpers for the bulk of the work. Full width bumpers always make a car look wider, lower and finished.
Fancy tailpipes are a staple, although personally I'd hide the exhaust.
Surely you're going to sign all this work with a custom badge? That's easier than it used to be; some CAD design, 3D printed and then chrome painted and filled with clear resin gives the look of an expensive enamelled badge for very little actual work.

Fancy tailpipes are a staple, although personally I'd hide the exhaust. Surely you're going to sign all this work with a custom badge? That's easier than it used to be; some CAD design, 3D printed and then chrome painted and filled with clear resin gives the look of an expensive enamelled badge for very little actual work. These are really good suggestions. Some cars with the bumpers removed do look good, my TR3A being an example but on the project, bumpers would add to its appearance. The chances of adapting bumpers from a mainstream vehicle are a no hoper but they are not difficult to make, either in steel or aluminium. As they would only be decorative I'd go for aluminium and avoid the cost of chroming mild steel. Stainless would be impossible for me to form unfortunately. I've been thinking about a custom badge and did wonder if one of our members has the facility to make them or perhaps contacts who could.

There are many better looking ways to do it, but I once made my own badge out of Copper Clad Circuit Board.
I just followed the normal procedure for making an electronic circuit board, but with the design of my badge.
( Etching , etc)
After I cut it to shape I heated it ( with a hot air gun, if I remember correctly) and loaded it up with solder.
That gave it a good enough contrast between the tin and the beige/brown color of the board, with enough detail.
Again, there are better looking options, but it would be a cheap and easy option to fall back on if those don't pan out.

A bit of a Red letter Day today because all the ECU/loom woes are now behind me so the engine runs and we managed a very short drive out of the workshop under its own power. I'll try to do a longer video in the next few days.

There's a German expression "Geschmack saar" not sure if I have got the spelling right but it means quite simply, " A question of taste" . You obviously mean " Geschmackssache". I do indeed. The correct spelling was pointed out to me in another post. I have only ever heard the expression used in conversation and never seen it written down but thank you for that, I've got it now.

The fact that ,instead of making one feel like someone had just poured lemon juice ,and salt, into ones eyes , as per the effect of most BL body shapes , it makes my eyes feel like they have been bathed in optrex , and then soothed with a soft cotton wool pad , and a silk kerchief, by a balinese sarong wearing dancing girl .
makes it infinitely superior .
