I've always fancied a cx, i got as far as buying a haynes manual. Keep up the good work! Thank you! Get one while people are still scared of the hydraulics. parts are still available, new and used. There are only 61 on the road according to how many left, but lots on sorn. I think they are so undervalued, but I might be biased 🤣

No pictures but managed to get the central locking working,it became a priority when it mysteriously locked the fuel cap! An easy fix in the end as the drivers door unit was not connected! Screwed it back to the door and hooked the rod back on and bingo! No fittings in the boot, as the lid was changed a few years ago, think I'll just get hold of a new lock. Car still running rich and not idling, revs between 500 and 1000 on the counter and was never smooth driving around so though I'd check the spark plugs, was surprised to see they looked ok. Thought I'd do some basic checks and looked at the plug leads. I'd noticed ages ago car come with jubilee clips holding the leads onto the coils, I'd taken them off when I had the non start problem and was blaming the coils for it. Yep putting a tie rap on one of the coil has really improved how it drives! Think the problem is the contact onto the coil itself has worn down so the leads don't fit on snuggly.Another easy fix 😄 Still doesn't idle perfect and takes longer than it should to start from cold, I'm hoping this is because someone in the past has removed part of Citroen's cold start mechanism!

Pic of plugs. looks ok? Yes they were hot Pic of interior lights, a new bulb and fixing one of the connectors sorted it. Why this and loads of other little jobs haven't been done before by one of the last owners baffles the hell out of me! Pic of the cold start device, no idea what it does but the missing pipe joins up to the fast idle screw and inlet manifold somehow.

Here's what you need to change the spheres on a Citroen, including a 15 eBay tool Release the pressure at the regulator, tighten up the 2 screws and unscrew the sphere. Put something under the car to absorb the mess and don't do it on your drive. I didn't do the last two parts...🤬 The reason I changed them wasn't because they were flat ( you can get them re gassed) it was the simple reason they were the wrong ones! Correct one on left. Why,why, why would anyone do this??! Think they are from a bx.

The little alloy thing in the bottom is an idle control valve. I had one go on my X1/9 and it caused odd symptoms around idle. A quick test could be to get it warmed up and then plug the open end (which is probably meant to be plumbed back into the intake post-filter btw). If the idle steadies out then you know it's not closing properly It's also worth making sure it's bolted to the block and not hanging freely. They work by heating up a bimetallic strip inside them which closes an aperture when it's hot, so if it's just hanging freely then they don't get hot enough to close.

It's definitely bolted to the block, it's got what looks like a screw thread on the inside? Where the missing pipe joins. Doesn't seem to do anything when I block it up either.

That's probably closing as you'd expect then. Should be ok Screw thread sounds odd. Mine just looks like a tube with a little plate with a hold in blocking the two halves, but I suppose it could be for a different type of fitting. I'm definitely not an expert but I'd be looking around for vacuum leaks if it's hunting at idle. Or maybe bad earths (mainly because it's free, but you might find some dodgy stuff!).

Thanks for getting back, I'll try and get a picture of it from the other side. There is supposed to be a vacuum pipe to the ECU or Aei as Citroen call it, but I can't find it! All other vac hoses seem to be leak free.

Long time no post. Can't remember what I did next but managed to get hold of a new old stock boot lock and solenoid. Had to butcher the inside frame to get it all to fit, had to use tin snips as that's all I've got.thankfully it will be hidden under a cover

Next job was to sort the cold starting out, finally got hold of the correct pipes and plumbed it in, was hard to find pictures of how it should be as this car was only made for a few months. Anyway all done and it starts within 5 seconds as to the 30 + it was taking before. Very happy it was such an easy fix in the end.one of many strange things that's been done to the car. Who knows why it was taken off in the first place!

Next up is changing the rest of the spheres as I'd need to blead the brakes anyway now.I'd changed the front 2 before the rear suspension also needed a new gaiter as it was holed and lhm was leaking out.

No pictures as I was covered in fluid but this is the rear sphere with the cylinder

Pictures of main accumulator ( bottom pic ) - everything works off this. Gets pressurised from the engine driven pump. Brake sphere ( top pic and hidden under cover on bottom pic ) - keeps the brakes working if there is a major lhm leak for as long as possible. Power steering goes first, then suspension and lastly the brakes. Inside of the suspension cylinders
