Well after telling anyone who would listen,(probably for the last 40 years)that I'd like to own a cx one day, the planets, my bank balance and garage / drive space all lined up. I went to see the first one I enquired about- and possibly the first one I'd seen in years. Obviously it was in worse condition than discribed and lots of electrical stuff had "just stopped working this morning' But after a bit of friendly haggling I had finally run out of excuses to walk away,so in the best retro rides tradition bought it and drove it 150 miles north!

If possible use the forums built in image host. It inserts the images into posts automatically rather than having to click through Flickr links.

Switch to desktop view if your on your phone. The attach image tab will then be below the area you type in.

Thank you for the help posting pictures. It's a 10 ft car though! There's not a panel that doesn't need paint. strangely it also needs lots of electrical issues sorted too..who would have thought that in an 80's Citroen

There's something fantastic about Citroen in days past, the fact that they were prepared to plough their own furrow.
I hope everything goes to plan with it and it does get finished.

First registered oct. 1985 first owner must have been a rep, how does 7000 miles in 6months between its first and second service sound? And 60k miles at two years old.at four years old it had 137k miles, which is when the service books stop. In the next four years it did only four thousand more miles, then it was laid up in a barn.... For 24 years! It was rescued in 2017 and sold on eBay for 600 quid, apparently the new owner had a phobia of rats and promptly sold it on at a loss! Was bought again and was fixed up, but was far from finished but had its first mot in 2019! He never got it running correctly and was sold on. Three more owners down the line and it's my turn to try and finish it. I'd post a to do list, but I'm still writing it 5days into ownership 🤣

Good luck with it.

looks a nice sound example, shouldn't be too difficult to get it reliable, there's plenty of parts and info out there for L jetronic, apparently they can suffer from poor electrical connections, an afternoon spent with contact cleaner and dielectric grease could make the world of difference.
When they were new people were scared by the technology, compared to a modern they seem pretty simple now though!

When they were new people were scared by the technology, compared to a modern they seem pretty simple now though! All the mot bits are fine ( hopefully!) It's just everything else needs work, don't think there is any non machanical stuff working properly. Central locking no, Windows nope.fuel gauge no. Speedo? stopped on way home! Heater fan nope, bonnet release, no, door locks nope and why would they! Every panel has either rust, bad repairs or is dented and scratched, or all four. It drove home fine though 😁

I've already noticed there's a few things not attached to anything! The engine is going to be the last thing I'm going to play with right now 😂

The advantage of vehicles this age is all the electrical stuff is simple to follow, none of the modern black box modules, I fixed virtually all the same issues on my Range rover, it was a mixture of cleaning connections, taking switches apart to clean contacts, freeing up mechanisms and undoing previous bodges from alarm installations. The fuel injection(Lucas copy of L jetronic) has been my biggest headache so it's good yours runs well.
