Didn't enjoy changing the adjuster. First one took ages. I followed a guide from the bimmerforum and I'm glad I had found it to follow. Nearside light is good. Haven't had a chance to polish them yet or fit some decent h7s. I'm struggling to fit the electric adjuster on the os light so I need to strip it back a bit and investigate. I took a few pics but they don't really show much Emptying the car ready to take to work tomorrow and I decided to fit the ebay special black grilles. Not happy with the fitment but they will do for now. Any suggestions on a quality replacement? I'm doubtful that my oil filter housing and vanos gaskets will be here tomorrow so I will leave the vanos seals until I have all the parts. I have some time every night this weekend and I'm hoping to get at least 10 hours work in and some jobs ticked off the list. So far the list looks like this I'll be glad to get some bits ticked off as I have been getting myself worked up over the car. Some days I love it, so days I regret buying it. All the positive comments and feedback on here are very much appreciated. I think a few hours work will get me back on track. We have a bodyshop next door so I can get their opinion on the paintwork. Everytime I look I see more scratches. Bodywork isn't something I can do so I'm hoping he can flat back and polish most of it away. The new front bumper should hopefully arrive tomorrow too

A late night at work resulted in a new stat, pump and top hose. Followed by the ccv and inlet gaskets. Going back tonight to tick some more list items. Had a message to say my vanos seals are coming Monday so won't put it fully back together. I've got a few pics but won't be able to stick them up until Monday. Found some rust on the inner sills I need to investigate further and decided my Disa valve is an accident waiting to happen so need to get a kit from X8R for that too. Gotta stay positive as it will all be worth it once I get it on the road. When I have scanned the vehicle it has a vanos solenoid circuit fault, but no EML on. On further inspection I found the inlet solenoid to be unplugged. Bet I end up needing solenoids too. Tonight's job is getting the towbar off and deciding if I'm brave enough to pull the sill covers off and fully assess the rust issues yet or whether to leave it until my friendly welder needs some bits doing on his daily

Did you check the drain pipe on the dipstick, mine was blocked solid and took some effort to clear the double walled part of the dipstick tube itself. Maybe worth checking if you haven’t, quite a regular cause of issues from what I’ve seen.

Yeah that was clear. It looks to have had a genuine ccv kit fitted in around 2014 judging by the date stamps on it

So for some silly reason I decided that while I was working late on my car I would also use a ramp to service my friends dads car. That ended up needing a fair bit and must of taking 4 hours out of my BMW time. As it stands the ccv pump and stat are done. The oil filter housing is actually dry so I'm debating leaving that for now. The Disa valve is awful so I'm not even running it up to temp until I have the X8r kit to repair that. Got the twins birthday on Friday so I imagine not alot will get done this week. With a bit of luck the bumper will actually turn up so maybe I can get that painted and ready to go on. I'll post some pics up tomorrow

This hasn't made any noise but it's so bad. The car pulls well, or at least I thought it did. Can't wait to drive after disa and vanos seals

when they are on song they are surprisingly swift. All these jobs will be worth it for an appreciating classic that you can drive every day. and if you get sick of it, I'll have it

I'm hoping to drive it after the vanos and and disa and get some miles on it. I may even drive with the bumper as it is as I've got a feeling ill need a front end blow over to blend the bonnet and bumper. Annoyingly the car has to be moved in and out of the workshop if its at work so I have to do it all in one hit.

Today the disa was fitted, not back on the car yet as my sister needed an mot and levels etc doing. The old disa was worn and flapping, the pin was sticking out by at least 1mm as well. Close call there. Didn't make any noise tho. Very impressed with the x8r kit. Well made and excellent instructions. Will get that back on tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to get stuck into the vanos seals. I've decided to leave the bumper and bonnet paint until I have some bits as I need a new rear valance with removable towing cover and I may well get the rear bumper painted too. Makes sense to do all the paint in one hit. I'm going Devon end of May so need the car in the road and run in so I can transport the twins and dogs
