Mid-corner instability, coupled with teenage overconfidence, is the reason why my mate Richie wrote off two Dolly Sprints in pretty quick succession in 1986. if you look closely you can still see the huge vee of "new" bricks in the wall halfway down Gravel Hill going out of Bexleyheath towards the Black Prince where the green one met its end... Crikey Glen, I hope Richie lived to tell the tale! I`m not too far from Bexleyheath and know Gravel Hill. Maybe I`ll pay a visit as a homage to dead Dolly`s.

Never had any dolly, let alone a sprint, but from memory wasn't there something about the engines being way more capable than the chassis or suspension could cope with? Of course that could just be pub speak?

Yeah, he lived. He drove like a loon though, and wrote off more cars than all the rest of us put together. I still don't know how he afforded it.

Served my apprenticeship at lex Bexleyheath late 70’s early 80’s and gravel hill was part of our road test route.Working on rovers triumphs and BL at the time my first speeding ticket was down gravel hill in a P6 35000s and I was only 19.

It’s obvious where the wall has been rebuilt. Deserves a blue plaque in my book. “In this spot another Dolomite Sprint went backwards to its death” .

Of course that could just be pub speak? in period the engines were running around 200bhp(at the wheels) in Touring Car spec, whereas the chassis modifications were generally limited to brake mods and adjustable front arms Based on this, it seems the chassis is pretty capable to me, if set up correctly.

Like I said, I've never had one, it was just something I'd heard. But judging by the underinvestment by the manufacturer it wouldn't have surprised me. There were quite a few cars from that particular stable that could have been so much more. I guess it's all water under the bridge now Edit- this wasn't meant to be a dig at this car, sorry if it came across like that
