Technical question if I may.
From the Mercedes/Smart WIS (electronic manual) various torque specs are spoken as initial torque then final torque but the application of the values is confusing me.
There are no instructions, just the values.
For example the oil pickup pipe on my vehicle is shown as initial torque of 12nm and a final torque of 9nm.
Now is that just going back over the fasteners after the 12nm and any needing nipping up only go to 9nm or do I back them off slightly and re-torque to 9nm?
