My catalytic converter had a flang at each end so it was super easy to swap it in and out for the decat come mot time. Yeah that’s what I was planning but I should have checked first! Still, it’ll be alright once the new back-box arrives as has the flange where it should be.

Everyone have a good Bank Holiday? I made some pretty decent changes over the weekend, behold! I bought an exhaust from Mr-MR2, super helpful guys and got it to me in record time! It didn't cost very much at all but after some digging, it's either an older style Mongoose system or it's a Fox Exhaust, either way it fills the bumper much better and isn't hideously loud even with the decat. I also cobbled together a homebrew induction kit using the original intake pipe, some intercooler pipe and a Ramair filter Next up I picked up some as-new 7Twenty Style-55's. I had my tyres switched over as they're pretty much new, but due to the much lower offset I'm gonna have to 1) put a lower profile tyre on the back 2) lower the car 3) roll the arches. I'm gonna be honest, I'm not totally sold on the wheels now that they've been on the car a couple days. I might keep an eye out for something different.

A black MR2 always looks pretty lush in my eyes.
If it was me, and I could stomach the JDM scene tax, I'd be frantically looking for a set of Super Advans to go on there 8)

I think the wheels look smart but there's something not quite right like you say. They either need a lower profile or dare I say it... A smidge of camber and some stretch (il never say those words again I'm sorry hahah) they just look a bit chunky In the arches.
May look better with a bit of a drop (but while you've come this far, you may aswell just wide arch it) haha

they look to poke out a bit. Makes it look like a photoshop.
I thought the white ones suited it and they are not all that different to your news ones in style.

They've come off now anyways as I really started to dislike them haha they look to poke out a bit. Makes it look like a photoshop. I thought the white ones suited it and they are not all that different to your news ones in style. Yeah the white ones were ok just not quite to my liking. Neither of them are on the car any more anyways haha
I've opted for a set of Rota Grids in 16x8 for now... for now haha
There's also some lowering springs on the way and a set of rear spacers
I cannot wait to lower this thing, the ride height offends me so much haha

Couple of small things, added some 20mm spacers on the back to keep the staggered set up. I do enjoy a semi-slick And the arch-roller will be needed... obviously The front wheels don't quite clear the caliper so a mate donated some slip-on spacers to the cause. I should be getting a nice new pair of NS2R's for the front wheels and it'll be on all four by tomorrow afternoon. I did also take delivery of my -40mm lowering springs today. I've never had just springs, always coilovers so we shall see how the fitting of those goes! I also treated myself to a Draper Storm Force impact wrench. Not going to lie, the name sold it to me quite well. And it's green as you like! I thought it was quite good value at just shy of £100 and very fast delivery!

I like everything in that post Haha thank you! The impact driver is my favourite, it’s actually hench too! Would 100% recommend if you don’t want to spend hundreds. I’m excited to get my tyres so I can finally have it starting to look the way I had planned.

Progress! Wheels and tyres... Tried carbon-wrapping the spoiler, sorta failed but is kinda ok. Paint was wrecked anways. Lowered just the front currently as ran out of time, it's only about 40mm and I think the angle of the picture doesn't really show but it's ideal And I did something controversial which everyone will hate, but I straight up don't care haha "genuine" TE37's...

Finally managed to get a bit of spare time this weekend and got the car lowered all the way around. It's quite nice that it's lower and not smashing on the tarmac like most other cars I've owned.
For once, everything went smoothly, nothing was too rusty (apart from the arch, as you will see) and everything came undone without incident! A rarity on a 20+ yr old J car.
Quick comparison...
FTI, I didn't actually roll this arch. Fresh air is tough to roll.
I bought myself a machine polisher to see if I could bring the paintwork back a bit but I think unfortunately it has suffered some sun burn. Still, it was cleaner than it's ever been!
Also went for a drive to Compton Abbas/Shaftsbury, some nice roads out that way and not far from me at all. The car performed well and wasn't even too crashy on the new springs. I think I may have to do the droplinks and potentially ARB bushes though.
Ordered a couple of treats too, first up was a Greddy Gracer front lip which should make it slightly more aggressive, some TRD winglets which will hopefully fit my Rev 5 spoiler blade but unsure on that. I've also been contemplating a pair of bucket seats but am wondering whether it's a step too far for this particular car, I think I've overspent already lol

Those pics on page 1 that look like sales brochure pics, they made me want one, it really is a pretty car once you see it for what it is.
Side lights are genius.
Cat certainly is a cool bonus.
You have done good with this cleanup so far.

I need to take some proper photos soon with the big boy camera haha but yeah, they're good looking cars for sure and starting to see less of them nowadays.
I do need to sort that arch though, it's hideous lol
Thanks for the kind words
