Car looks at home in there. Hopefully new house exceeds expectations. Thanks Phil , it does, i just need to find his poxy short in the ring main , which is divided side to side on this house not upper and down . then its masses of mowing and strimming , wall paper off and painting to be done . oh and i need a beam for a lintel so i can get cars in the long barn. whilst still transporting things one astra load at a time from either 50 miles south or 130 mile south ...that'll be the astra that has just done its head gasket and is living on kseal ,and a cracked exhaust . the neighbours must think the area has taken a downturn ! . luckily the lpg stn nearest is 68.5 pence a litre .which makes a big difference , i will be borrowing a flatbed transit next week , for the 159 mile motorways trips to get the heavy stuff from oxon . bet that'll be 90 quid a trip in fuel . tell you what the other day i had a freezer , and armchair ,on the roof of the astra , and a rangemaster classic 90 cooker inside , and about 10 boxes of stuff .getting that freezer on without doinking the car body was a mission , luckily for the first time in this whole proceedings , i had a friend to help get it off , who had popped up 159 miles to see the new hs , THANK YOU TOM ! onwards .. regards robert regards robert

I use a random, independent guy who will deliver on a weekend, but also allows collection in a local industrial unit he uses as an exchange depot. His prices are no worse than anyone else I paid a bottle deposit, and keep two, that way there is always a full one on a Sunday at 2.00pm

I use Hobbyweld, mainly because the local plant hire place does them, have several depots and open Saturdays.

Well ! ring main fixed , another load of stuff brought up , strimming has occurred and a hidden stairway in the garden found . in other news , the question "would the rayburn oil burner cooker thing have worked ?" (if i just switched it on ) er that'll be a no , air inlet to the burner was covered with a red enamel cover , which upon removal ...... this ... chokey mc chokester . so that was defuzzed with a big brush on a long handle in case the multi legged incumbent wanted a piece of me . also i found the lead from the time to the boiler was eaten through , and the lead for the central heating pump was eaten Right through , and last but not least the power feed to the timer etc , was hanging free inside the hot water tank switch box . so ill fix all that and see waht happens ...how much is oil nowadays .. off for another trip today . regards robert oh ,, its not all derelicte'..heres a flower ... and i suppose the view is tolerable

Hi Robert, progress and lovely view ! On oil if you can get oil for less than £1 / litre you are doing OK. Compared to the £0.40 ish for the last few years its pretty painful. It usually goes up in the winter as well... Time to chop down some trees for next winter... James

How about an earth heat pump combined with solar cels and little vertical wind turbine for night service. Bet that would be a better investment And a good wood stove for the REAL COLD days. ;-) Thom
every penny invested in oil heating is a waste of money.

Robert, Congratulations on finally moving into the new home of motoring madness! As for heating oil.... If you have never had it before then don't take the first quote you are given. Ring around, play one off against the other and always check on boiler juice to see what the competitive pricing is but don't buy from them. Shocking service. If you have had heating oil before then you already know this and the constant fear of running out, supply and THE EXTORTIONATE COST, will be second nature. As for the wood burner, if you don't have one then invest. Transformed our home and made it liveable, I would suggest using the luxury wood company to supply your wood in addition to the wood you can scrounge and chop. They are consistently cheaper than any of the other suppliers - despite their posh name - if you do go down this route drop me a DM as if I refer you we both get a £10 discount off you first order. Enjoy the strimming and the view. P.
