Didn't fancy welding yesterday So sanded the scaffold plans for the bed instead, was very hot ! so then went home and had a cold beer and watched Wales lose the last test, Danish oil today, need to work out how to fix them down next, thinking ally Tee extrusion , polish the top ? or just stainless coach bolts... They're already a bit bendy, I think long runs of ali would show that up more. I'd go for countersunk bolts so you don't get caught on them if you're trying to slide stuff in and out. Bolts will also help keep them from being more bendy. Agree with varelseNot an easy one to decide on. If this truck has a working future, then plan around sliding stuff in and out the bed. If only a show truck, your needs will change. If it were mine, I would go the countersunk, minimal protrusion route. Imagine sleeping or picnicking in the bed.

yeah I see what you mean it would highlight the wonky wood, a big long straight edge,
I do have some stainless riv-nuts I was thinking of putting in the box section under the bed and using counter sunk machine screws, that way I could take off the wood if/when I need to get to the air ride pipes etc from the top , instead of crawling around under the truck to undo coach bolts.
as for sleeping on the bed , I have a Plan.... but have to wait for payday to buy the stuff

Been a bit quiet on here lately, I have been doing little bits to the truck but life has been getting in the way a bit lately, and its been to bloom 'in hot lol , The steering rack has had some more bracing and some fancy water cut brackets to stiffen everything up a bit its all back on now , but I'm still placing around with the track rods and tracking , gonna make some wood blocks so I can let the suspension down on the them and still get underneath to sort the tracking, there no room when its sitting on the floor ti get my arm in to adjust them, then i can take it all off and paint it And the Dodge RV has gone to a new loving home now, So I have a bit of cash for truck bits. room in the yard so the truck has a new mate to....

Oh yes! Very cool! Yeah a few coats of boiled linseed oil mixed with a dash of turps should see that pop with a nice satin sheen!
Has it got a motor in it? Or plans for something wild there too?

We did a mates truck the other week with linseed oil, can't believe how well it came up to be honest , you can't beat original patina , I ordered 5 litres this morning, It's got a flat head 6 in it , as far as I can tell it's only.missimg the oil bath air filter and the wiper arms , needs going through but hopefully do all the brakes new and get the engine going some new tyres and just drive it about .........but then again I have been looking at Torque thrusts and LS motors 👍🤣 Must resist 🤣

haha the top version, stock wheels but slammed ticks all the boxes for me. I'd want to see a big block on throttle bodies in the bay though

long day of washing and cleaning and scotch pad's with a Credence Clearwater Revival soundtrack Before After many hours Also used a bit of oven cleaner on the grill to get rid of the green paint and get it back to the original off white, its coming up pretty ok, mostly just rust stains all over from years of sitting it needs another good clean in the morning to get rid of the last of the much from scotch pad'in it all , then break out the linseed oil .
