Hi all!
New to the forum, but have been an attendee of Retro Rides events for a few years now. Last year I picked up this 1992 1jz Toyota Soarer for a not too large sum of £3k, pretty cheap for a 1jz Soarer these days tbh. It's not a perfect example but mechanically it's sound. It's been in the UK since 2004, done 115k kms. It's a fantastic car. Surprisingly fast at 280bhp to the rear wheels. I've always had a big soft spot for them, and when this one popped up at the price it did I had to have uit. Sold up my 97 BMW E36 323i to make room. It has some strange selections of equipment on it. It has cruise control and electric folding mirrors, on a car from 1992, but no ABS or traction control of any form. It's weirdly considered the 'base' model, even though it's got the 'sportiest' engine. They were available in a 3.0 2jz non turbo, a 4.0 1uz V8 or a 2.5 Twin Turbo 1jz-gte. Overall it needs body and paintwork, but it can be considered a long term project in that sense. At the moment I'm daily driving it, but hoping to relegate it to weekend use soon!
Since I've bought it I've fitted a set of HSD Dualtech coilovers, picked up a set of Whistler KR1's in 18x9.5 et35 all round, fitted a cheap ebay double din unit just to get rid of the old tape deck (thought I've kept the unit) and done general maintenance work such as brakes all round, ARB drop link replacement, full service. My plans are to hopefully have it manual swapped by the end of this year/early next year and after that it'll be time for an exhaust to let the 1jz sing! Here are some pictures for now in order of when I bought it to how it is now... Thanks for reading.
