Version 2 thought i'd revise the original post so everything is together, try and ditch the cheap advertising links!
Ill add more photos as i find them. So far ive searched 3 computers, 2 usb sticks, 3 sd cards, 1 old mobile and a extrnal drive.
So i've owned this LWT since i was 16 ... I'm now 30 something!
Its gradually evolved over the years.
Its now running a Rover T16 using a few M16 parts.
The transmission is now perminant 4wd , using a blend of landrover LT77 and SD1 parts. With an R380 waiting to go in.
The axles are range rover discs all around, and a defender 90 Nas brake servo and bias valve so it stops.
Originally owned by my uncle the landy started off looking like this, with a ford essex v6. The landy behond is my brothers 59 s2.
Just out of view is my dads 101GS:
Being 16 i couldn't get insurance on the v6 so ended up chucking in a 2.25, which did me okay when i was back at college.
I was coming home late from college and had a massive brown pants side ways moment. It was torrential rain, and after plowing through a puddle i had to stop quickly as some one cut into my lane. The drum brakes were good when dry by wet and a short wheel base left me at 45 in the road.
After seeing a few guys convert i wanted to chuck on discs and the cheapest wasy was to use a set of range rover axles .. which are marginally wider
Before and after front axle.. (casings upside down and blocks still needed welding on)
Rear showing track increase
The end result was :
First test drive 220 miles to cornwall with my brother on tunes and a minifridge stocked behind the rear bulkhead.
Fast forward a few years and i thought i wanted to fit a TDI.
As part of that i thought the best think to do was chuck in the defender gearbox too given i now have the later axles that cna handle it.
( find the pics later)
I sourced a 200tdi , which tuned out to hav e cracked head. I struggled to source one but apparent a 300tdi head can also work.
This is as close as it will get to being fitted, as i changed direction to the t16.
Gotta go fill the kids paddling pool.. more later!
