Nice one Justin. It's coming along lovely now. The rubbish weather has stopped play with me getting anymore paint on so i'm waiting for a good window of sunshine, i don't have a door on one side of the garage so its can cause mayhem when it rains or the wind is up.
It's no easy task painting the inside. Coming together well. So have you engineered you rear panel to bolt on and off of course i can see its hugely modified to run the round lights which are pretty cool. I presume you had this on your previous Fulvia?
Cheers

Cheers Hello mate. The rear panel, which is aluminium, was on the last car, but won't have the lorry/bus rear lights. Porsche 906 lights have been procured, do fit, and do look very cool! A lot more paint has gone on, but I'm not yet happy to publish the results. Too much inexpertise showing at the moment! 😂

What we're up against is the staggered ports/trumpets. I have looked very hard at the various filter options, but nothing jumps out as more than a re-development nightmare! Ah, yeah. Hard to see anything working beyond a fabricated airbox there, or individual sock fliters (which tend to be quite restrictive. Only thing I can think of is 4 individual K&N pancake filters, one on each trumpet. The sort of ones you get on SUs, and then make a backing plate on each trumpet to bolt them to. Looks like you'd need to tweak the position of the injectors to clear them though, and they'd probably add up to a couple of hundred just for the pancakes themselves. Edit: or this guy, flipped upside-down so the narrow part of the cone sits on the trumpet (if it fits), which would give a bit more clearance for injectors.

Hey Justin, I’ve said it before and will say it again, you’re doing a fine job and if you’re happy then that’s all that counts. Looks great anyway and if I ever see it close up I won’t say a word because you’ll see mine and how perfect it certainly is not!!! The Montebello red is really nice. Like the deeper tone it has.

Ran out of paint so while awaiting delivery, I'm re-assessing the repaired/relocated injection system. Having stood for so long, the injectors are gummed up and proving awkward, but should clean up. The pump is working, but hard to tell if it's behaving correctly.

Just starting reassembly, beginning at the back Rear panel rivetted in Rear lights fitted Rear ss trim fitted Fuel tank fitted and plumbed in Brake lines and fuel lines hung up under the floor Rear brake bias adjuster installed and plumbed in Brake master cylinder installed and plumbed in Fuel lines in progress

Looks great. What's your painting set-up like? Good to have progress, are you aiming for any date to finish or just enjoying the process?

Looks great. What's your painting set-up like? Good to have progress, are you aiming for any date to finish or just enjoying the process? Thanks. It looks great in the photos!! I've just pulled down the plastic sheets that lined half the garage. The feeling of space and freedom, now, is pure bliss! The paint dust gathered on the ceiling sheet nearly killed me, and next time I'll be far more careful sealing the space (and ventilating it) "Next time" is a LONG way off 😂 I'm aiming for August, latest...

Making progress Trim installation has been a pain in the 'aris, and very expensive. Didn't invest in a new rear window rubber, as the windscreen and door rubbers cleaned me out. Only one Italian source, and he knows it :-) Just fitted the rear window, and trashed the old, concrete rubber, but it'll keep most of the rain out for the time being. Floor is undersealed Exhaust is hanging up Fuel and brake lines are fitted Fuel tank installed Firewall fitted Dashboard installed Throttle bodies are going through a slight re-engineer, which should be done by the end of next week. Rollcage went in fairly smoothly this evening, without too many scratches or chipped knuckles.

airflow goes in both directions in the inlet it's not like a vacuum cleaner there are high and low pressure waves in specfic points of the inlet yes, but with a distinct average towards the cylinders (unless we are willing to say engines, which are air pumps, don't consume air!) have we had the big reveal on the secret throttle bodies yet ? my guess is they are slide throttles but not in the conventional horizontal sense, but rather the plate rolls or swings across

My wild card guess was like a camera "leaf shutter" Now that really is a wild card! Can you imagine the clock-like engineering intricacy of it! 😁

I've been working on the throttle operation of the original throttle bodies. I found that the new-fangled system was not working quite as intended, so reverted to the old system. Turns out there were other issues to contend with, so I can't put the blame entirely on my design! Anyway,to illiminate the issues, I went back to a system I knew worked. The variants left are different cams, and different mounting position of the injection pump. I'd forgotten about the rather clever variable opening rate linkage I'd nicked off a Merc, and realised this had to be incorporated somehow, into the current system. The video shows it happening. The idea is to open the air intake slowly at first, compared to the fuel rate. I reckon all injection systmes use this function as a substitute for the accelerator pump found on a carb.
