I'm afraid I am a bit too far down the road to change my mind on this now, but appreciate the reply. I did price up concrete delivered, it came in at around £950 with everything considered including delivery.
I have bought my cement at £4.05/bag, I need 80 bags so thats £324 I need around 14t of ballast which I can pick up from the quarry at around £10/t, but say £200 for arguments sake. If I don't collect the ballast it gets significantly more expensive but I do have the availability of a tractor and trailer to move. Materials wise its totaling around £550.
An eight of the floor is taking me around 3.5hrs to lay, so all going well its looking like 28 hrs work to lay, compared to maybe 8 hrs work if concrete delivered. So I am perhaps saving £400 but taking up an additional 20hrs of my time.
I am a weird sort though and enjoy doing these things myself, I take a bit of pleasure in knowing that I have done the lot myself.

This is amazing. Where abouts are you? Don't want your address, just a general area. Looks lovely.

This is amazing. Where abouts are you? Don't want your address, just a general area. Looks lovely. I'm just about as far North as you can go on mainland UK without getting your feet wet. Roughly 20 mins West of John O Groats I'm hoping to have a wee Shepherds Hut up and running next holiday season, so if you fancy a stay up here I can sort you out.

So anyway, I'm a little behind with updates. Offshore just now so nothing better to do than upload stuff. So we had the Storm Arwen on Friday of last week was real wild, but the lockup stood up to it with no issues. Awake early doors on Sat for a spot of mixing, but had to take this shot on first light. Was still quite stormy. Anyway after a 3.5 hours on the mixer we had the next section done.

A bit of family time was needed on Sunday afternoon, so went for a 5 minute drive and a forest track walk just as the sun was thinking of setting. Absolutely stunning scenery.

Final update for now, and possibly this year Took a cheeky half day off on Tuesday morning and poured the last section of the 1st side. Took longer than it should as it was smaller than the other bits but just seemed to take an age. Maybe I was just tiring of mixing concrete. No pics of this one dry as I left for the North Sea on Wednesday morning at 3am. Hopefully its curing ok and not burst with frost. That leaves me roughly a 6x4 section still needing concrete, but the next bit will be where a 2 poster will go in future (maybe) so I am going to dig out the hardcore here and pour it at maybe 12" deep for 1m wide

Well the winter break party time is over. 20 odd bags of cement and a few more ton of ballast delivered. Back to the mixer in the morning.

Nothing too exciting to post at the moment, had a long session on the mixer as this piece was a touch bigger than the previous. Just leaves the are where the ramp will go in the future, so only had 5" or so depth here, removed all the rubbish from the area and began to dig out to give me 200mm to 250mm depth and will also be installing rebar here. Might get the mixer going again on the weekend but its not looking too likely.

Right, this mess wont do, but my dexion racking has still not arrived. I may have to go collect it personally at this rate. So as a temporary measure I used some of my scaffold to make some storage space and tidy things up. Also took the tractor over and removed the excess ballast I had left from the floor. Need to go to the farm and collect another couple of pallets to finish it off but its doing the job. Have space now to take my beater of an Octavia in and replace the bumper at least.

well i thought if i ever decided to wash a car or the floor it can drain away. Maybe once in a cars ownership I will wash it and polish, so now I can swing the car in the shed to polish and the drips can go to the drain. Or I may need a pee mid maintenance Now the foor was not graded to run to the drain basically if it flows to the drain its luck, but I have a broom and can sweep.
