Ever have a car which you knew existed once, thought was proably recycled into baked bean cans by now, but had dreamed of owning for a long long time?
Sure we all have I'm sure.
Ever have one of those cars appear, for sale, possibly affordably?
Obviously at a point in time when you have no money or space or time to do anything about it....
Andy's old Victor was one of those, although I knew it was still about.
I did just hear of another one of my "must haves" but its all a bit precarious about whats going on with it. In all the best traditions. I'll tell all when I know whats up. I'm supposed to b keeping quiet about it.
Next up is my old Victor with the V8, turns out I know someone who knows the owner, or at least knows of him. I've asked for a message to be passed along about my interest in buying that one back.
And it would be sodding typical if that one comes up for sale when I can't do anything about it as well.
They are only bits of metal. But anyone else have fixationso ver certain, specific cars?

I've never sold a car that I actually liked, only a bike. And I only sold that as I crashed it then rebuilt it, and it never quite felt the same afterwards to me...
Having said that, I'd probably still buy it back if it appeared cheap enough!

God yeah! When I was 17 and had my first car (Austin 1300 with viper stripes!!) the mobile mechanic who changed my propshaft had a mate with a bright red E21 323i. Full Zender kit, chrome twin exit exhausts, lowered, Mahle 14"s, trick suspension...the works. He used to come and help him out. I saw quite a lot of them over the next two years ( ) and everytime it just looked better and better. I finally got to a position where I could have just, just about afforded to make him an offer and it got nicked outside his house and written off 100 yards down the road. Sigh. I've never got over it...

I know that feeling very well, 11 years of ownership and countless bruises, cuts, curses and threats to burn the bloody thing when all was going wrong but I'd really love to see it in my garage again. ;D Unfortunately it was last known to be registered on the Isle of Man....

Black buggy! OOooooffff I'd buy that!!! A certain V8 (Rover) Mk1 Granada seen in Wyke West Yorks years ago, Custom effort Capri lights etc, if that came up reasonable price again i'd jump on it! prob dead now the only one i can think of, perhaps, just perhaps the shaggy old C reg Micra shed. I was ordered by my mechanic to use my polo instead and scrap it, gave it to my dad to sell, hmm about 6 years ago I guess its dead but if it turned up alive and cheap, yep i'd have it!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

But anyone else have fixationso ver certain, specific cars? I don't sell cars very often - I tend to scrap em cos when I've finished with them the sum of the parts is worth more than the whole. I wanted a specific car for a long while and even wrote to the "keeper" to express and interest and as a result was invited to bid on it in a sealed bid auction - won it too I can only think of one car I've owned that I'd like to buy back and that was my dolly sprint we had some pain in a very short space of time so I sold it and for several years after whenever I asked him about it he said all he ever had to do was the normal service oil, filters plus and coolant!!! Damn and blast I would like to buy a motorbike I owned (doesn't even have to be the same one) was the best bike I ever had Yamaha XS 1.1S but they seem to be hard to find in unmolested condition!

When i sold the '94 Skoda Rapid in 1999 that my dad bought me, i told the bloke who bought it that if he ever sold it i wanted first refusal. The following year my dad passed away and i started to regret selling the car.
In 2005 i received an email from an old Skoda forum, where someone was looking for me regarding an old car of mine. I replied to the email and it was said owner of my old Rapid asking if i was still interested in buying it back. I went and had a look and struck a deal, explained the situation and bought it back. I still own it now, its sat in my lock up until i get round to repairing the accident damage on it, then it will be back on the road, and i will never sell it again.

Getting back to AKKU's OP...
Anyone know what happened to the 'tiger striped' black Skoda Rapid? (IIRC it was a magazine car) I missed out on it in about 1996 and again in '99.... last thing I saw that sausage-jockey Nares owned it and was trying to flog it as a non-runner but I got outbid on eGay... would love to own it, purely as it is tres cool and has eluded me 3 times at least!
Gutted not to be quick enough to get to a 'dream spec' BMW a couple of weeks ago, basically something they never built, but so should have done. To make my own would cost thousands. This was peanuts, but some guiness-slurping drift idiot got there first, so doubtless it will be destroyed fairly soon. Bumhats.

No offence taken just trying to cover all the potentials in my reply ;D If you are into modern bikes it would seem horrid but I can't get on with moderns - basically if I owned a modern one I would pretty much be saying goodbye to that entitlement to drive - I know you have the control as far as speed goes but - you just do don't you I want something that means anything over 90mph for any length of time will be uncomfortable - that tends to result in my licence staying with me and not getting an expensive holiday in Wales and me getting shanks pony for the duration of the holiday

Nightmares - didn't realise you had the baldy van. One of my favourite 70s customs its such a cool looking van.
I think mine and my dads would be an jag xk120 we both passed up as we had no place to put it together even tho it was a bargain (4k for a real one ffs) and was all completely restored but in bits.
