fr€$h&m1nt¥What sort of MPG difference did you see going from a Cube to an Elgrand? I'm looking at going the other way, dropping the Elgrand down to a Cube due to working a handful of miles away from work and the Ellie drinking ALL THE FUEL.

I'm looking at going the other way, dropping the Elgrand down to a Cube due to working a handful of miles away from work and the Ellie drinking ALL THE FUEL. Cube was always low 30s MPG for me, Most I got out of the Elgrand was 23mpg. Normally I wouldn't recommend a cube for economy reasons but compared to an Elgrand they're ok. A 2006 cube - same shape as mine but newer engine should be a bit better.

Different car, but my 2012 Cube isn't bad on fuel, its no worse than the 2001 Micra 1.4 I had before it, it says its doing 40.2mpg and that's about right, but the fuel gauge is hoplessly unpredictable.

Gen1 Toyota bB is what you want...lots of wheel fitment options, Yaris T-sport engine, and non CVT4 speed auto box. the 1.5 will give about 32-34mpg.

Paid £2500 for mine with 42k miles on the clock and pretty much A1 condition... i've seen a couple of less tidy higher milers sell on ebay for under £2k in the last year or so... you just have to be ready to pounce as they don't come up all that often. Personally I think any UK private sale price north of £3k is dreaming, there's no market for them here at all.
A gen2 bb/materia is around £4k...so a gen1 is a relative bargain, and more iconic

Right, looks like the oxo cube idea is out the window. Car was parked in the sun today, and being pearl white it does look good when the sun hits it right. Someone asked why it looked so 'blingy', so I told them the paint isn't normal solid paint, its pearl. Stares at the paint really closely...…. 'Looks like a bowl of sugar' So there we have it, the sugar cube

Looks really good! Maybe the wheels are too big! What other plans do you have for it? No huge plans for the car yet, lots of little dents to get sorted and it’s in desperate need of a full service (I’ll sort that when the weathers better). The cube has gota stay family friendly so probably won’t do much more than different wheels and made a slight reduction on hight, I do however want to get curtains/ blinds for the windows so we I can sleep in it at goodwood 😂

Not as comfortable as youd think, I don't know what the rear seats are like in the mk2, but in the Mk3 (mine) they do absolutely nothing to help make it comfortable. I wish all the seats folded flat like they do in a Maxi, in fact in a Maxi I had one of the best nights sleep ive ever had. I had to google sugar cube car, and found this. The number plate is apparently the chemical equation for glucose. That my idea out for calling mine the sugar cube, already been done. Might as well stick with 'Oddball'. As a side not I love the fact that the wraparound rear window is the other way round on the left hand drive cars. That's a lot of different tooling for a relatively minor difference. What it does mean is someone with the required skills could give a cube a pillarless rear end and a rear window that goes all the way around the back of the car. I wonder if someone already has?

Never realised that the gen3 LHD and RHD models differ in that way!

I have all the plans ready for the interior now and have the car scheduled for upholstery shop in late april. I also came up with a fun idea how to personalise the engine bay. I'll post some updates as these visions start to take shape.

It would require a custom top hinged rear door though to make the LHD/ RHD a full wraparound window. In terms of the full seats folded down they still require a double air bed over all of them - it will fit - to provide any level of comfort in my experience

Put together a video of my Cube ownership so far. I'll try to do more videos to the series in the following weeks. I have to apologise for my English as it is not my native language, nowhere near that . And also got the voice of a Corona infected Mickey Mouse and a face of a Freddy Krueger, so to keep it PG rated I won't be showing my ugly face. Link to the video:

Great video! It seems there was a lot more options available for the proper Mk2 (ie your) cube, Compared to the Mk3 like mine. Personally I think they look better in white, ive seen a black Mk3 locally and imo it just doesn't look as good.

I've really enjoyed digging into the history of these things and tried to find every piece of original literature that was available when these first came out. Going through the sales brochures and stuff like the Impul and Autech catalogs has given me some new, naughty ideas. Currently on the hunt for an original Impul supercharger for my 1.5L. It's not for the power, but just for the wtf factor Just last weekend went for a drive and to my surprise I first spotted another white Z11 with a full Rider kit on it and just 5 minutes later came across a white and very LOW Z12! That Z12 looked really tempting with that stance!
