Hi All,
Been really busy but made a bit more progress on the Jag.
I wanted to make sure the shell is as sound as it looks, so I stripped the inner wings back to bare metal...
...happy to report there is still no rust to be found! There has been some repair work at the front and at the bottom of the A posts where they meet the sills, but no current issues.
I applied some UPOL Raptor epoxy primer with a brush and seam sealed with Tiger Seal...
...then Raptor underseal tinted with my chosen dark grey colour, again applied with a brush...
This is a BMC colour called 'Carlton Grey', I wanted something like a dark gunmetal/battleship kinda colour. I think this will look great with the red interior.
I've also started the front suspension rebuild. The subframe was stripped to its component parts and everything was treated to a coat of chassis black, then reassembled with poly bushes throughout, new balljoints and bumpstops. I also had to replace the bottom arm pivots because one of them was seized and had to be cut out, and I bought some good secondhand spring platforms because the originals had welded themselves to the springs...
Next job is to fit the lowered Eibach springs and adjustable Gaz shocks and mount it up.
That's it for now, hopefully she'll be back on her wheels soon. Well, until I pull the IRS...
Cheers
Darren
