Remember Andy, the welder/manager lodger in summer, of BBQ and JD Honey fame? He is back for three days. Of course, like Mickey, he likes to play as well, and actually came home early from work yesterday, and while I was on the roof, drilling and screwing, and drilling and screwing, a LOT, I suddenly heard movement behind me on the ladder..... So suddenly I had company, and in tandem the job went twice as fast. Early selfie. Not the ideal angle to work at, but got stuff done. Screws in, followed by hexagonal caps on them. First two rows of six completed. Andy posing it up. Once capped, we cleared the roof. Then of course with too much light left, I needed to see what the replica pump looked like where I had visualised it for years. So we dragged it out from where it was packed at the back in the corner of the garage. Tried different head dresses. Note, this is STAR Gasoline, not Sinclair, so a bit of editing to come. I will also build a 200mm tall plinth for t to stand on, and need to fit a light inside the globe if I do go with it, or a stalk for the star if that gets used, to have it about 150mm above the top of the roof. Globe needs to be sign written Further back. Add in the Yeti, and you get the picture.

Well done ! looking good. Thanks Tony, Still loads to do, but the back breakers are mostly done, I think. Bringing this comment over as many people only look at pictures, or at the last page. . RIGHT.......... Searching Searching Searching.......Looking to find out if anyone in Kent, or Medway area knows of any company that tears up or recycles 7.5 ton delivery trucks. The ones with the white box on the rear. Not fully insulated trucks.... But rather the ones that use a Gelcoat sandwiched ply type construction. I am looking for a 4 meter or 16 foot by 2.4 meter or 8 foot section off one, either as one massive section or as two or three pieces, to use as a waterproof wall at the rear Any advice or pointers appreciated.

"The ones with the white box on the rear." These the one's usually called 'Luton Vans' or box vans ? One thing I did want to ask ... on the corner over the shed roof , the bit you cut off, is the remaining panel supportted ? if not it might 'flap' in any wind and damage panel and shed roof (might be teaching granny to suck eggs ) but thought I;d ask anyway as my OCD is twitching

The overhang is less than 300mm x 300mm here, note the supporting framework. So all screwed in along there, in every valley. Not going up or down, regardless of storm Josephine, Henry, Mcallister or whichever one comes next. Not sure if these are called Luton vans, I always thought the smaller Transit size up to 3 ton was that. But of course stand to be corrected. While hoping to find a side from one, not the 4” thick refrigerated type.

That flashing works even better if you use a primer under it. Morning mate, Having reviewed the info from the video below, I have decided that both my surfaces are very smooth and clean, so I will risk it, not using the primer. If it all goes tits up though, I would be blaming you, as seems to be the norm these days. Hope that works, video above.

Not watched the video, but isn't it a bit cold to be flashbanding? Unless you have a heat gun?
Only working from my dynamat/other deadening experiences...

I am also known as Grizz of the Two Heatguns. Yes, heat gun for sure, to shape and soften to really stick. I remember the Dynamat I fitted in the Transit, done in summer it was a pleasure.

While hoping to find a side from one, not the 4” thick refrigerated type. A Luton is a type that has the body extend over the top of the cab, can be any size of truck but generally they are fitted to Transit size vehicles, that's a box van and a common material for those and Lutons is Glasonite

Beat me to the “luton” explanation timbo. 😃 There’s a commercial vehicle breakers just the other side of the Dartford crossing; Juliet Way in Purfleet.

My worst worry about dying is my wife selling my stuff for what I told her it cost...

Hmmm.
Wouldn’t a simple timber frame and some more of that sheet cladding be a better option?

I bought a van box from a breakers on Erith marshes although that was 20 years ago. The sides do deteriorate though which is why I've recently had to reclad mine with some old box roof sheets I had laying around.
