. 28/12/2020 Chevy S10 thread starts on page 72 ......So my eye continued to always be open for certain Cars. I had a specific, rigid wish list for these. Chevrolet S10 pickup. A Mk 2 truck, despite series one popularity Colour: Sandalwood metallic Extra-cab 4.3 liter V6 2WD not 4x4 Decent condition Tow bar Fleetside badging, rear step bumper may hide a tow ball fitting space. [ Cragar wheels fitted, they will be gone ASAP. Truck comes with a set of lowering springs as well. Stripes are also opinion dividers. I am not yet certain.maybe remove and replace with ghosted type stripes Front end is nice, orange indicators will be going and getting replaced with clear units. So after PaulY and I spent time on our knees and crawling around in the wet, thanks Paul, it was time for a run down the motorway, grab some fuel and return via the local village, which gave me a feel for it in all conditions. Even the load bed, which comes with a cover, has actually never been used. The Raptor liner was applied in Missouri, and is still unmarked, no dents, scratches etc. So I bought it. I decided not to pay the government for a months road tax for five days of use, which would be about 100 miles. So collection agreed for 01012021 Nice way to start the new year. Happy yes. Loads of jobs to do, new wheels n tyres. Happy place. And later...... new centre caps. Personal plate added. MAZZIVE COPY N PASTE OF PREAMBLE TO THIS. Launched in 1995 The first Galaxy was designed as a joint venture product between Ford and the Volkswagen Group. Produced at the joint-venture AutoEuropa plant in Palmela, Portugal, the vehicle was badge-engineered to create three vehicles: the Ford Galaxy; by Volkswagen as the Volkswagen Sharan; and by SEAT as the Alhambra.
The Galaxy used predominantly Volkswagen Group mechanicals, most notably the 2.8 litre VR6 petrol engine from the top versions of the Volkswagen Golf, as well as Volkswagen Group's 1.9 litre Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) turbodiesel unit. Initially only the 2.0 litre inline-four petrol version used a Ford powerplant – this derived from the Ford I4 DOHC engine. In later years, this unit was supplemented by a 2.3 litre 16 valve version first seen in the facelifted Ford Scorpio. This engine was transversely mounted (as with the MKV Escort RS2000) as opposed to longitudinal mounting like in the Ford Scorpio.HOW WE GOT HERE. Weirdly My FB Marketplace and Gumtree feeds for bangeR type money cars have started to push through the VW Sharan/Alhambra/Galaxy type cars too, possibly because I have clicked on a few sub £700 items. Anyway....... New Squirrel to chase and ask about on here, because I know there are such a range of experiences and interests. Please tell me specifically about FORD GALAXY 2.3 petrol cars in Auto or manual. I have read up on reviews, and typically opinions are of users, with varying opinions. I have been offered a 2001 2.3 Auto, with towbar and 102k miles on the clock for £700.00 by a grandad who has bought a smaller car. MOT History seems decent on it REGISTRATION: N999RAM

I did some research on the VW/Ford/Seat SUV thing. I wanted to buy one in Holland for our 10 week stay a few years back. From what I gathered is that the 2.3 is the pick of the bunch. Stands out in nothing but goes for ever and is reliable although a bit thirsty. I only looked at automatics and again from what I have seen is that the auto box is a good thing. Out of the 3 the Ford was the most offered one/most sold one. So, I looked at Galaxy and all variants. The Ghia? was the most luxurious but also the one that had the most that could go wrong regarding electrics. I then looked at the most basic models but with auto and airco and found a great one for 900 Euro's. I can't remember the model but I thought that it was a GL (aut and air). I was ready to jump and buy it but when my brother in law offered his new Honda Accord for free....the Ford did not happen.
Anyway, good luck with it. What are your plans? "Prozac" it? New theme? Waddabout Prozac? Up for sale? If I was in your neck of the woods I would grab Prozac pretty swift. Awesome little thing but I think the Galaxy is a worthy replacement.
Cheers mate

So...... Rubbish pics, bad descriptions and the rest. Walk away, unless you are a masochist. Then after work on Thursday after a quick phone call and chat from a car park in Greenwich, I ran down to the Isle of Sheppey to take a look. First impression..... Dirty. And after a short drive around the suburb, reversed up and more poking and peeking. Not at all perfect. But..... 106000 miles or 170000 km done. Great MOT online history showing long term care, maintenance and generally good status. Petrol, automatic with a 2.3 litre 16 valve engine, offering 145 bhp Road tax £325.00 per year as it was born post March 2001, vs £265.00 if born before March 2001 Popped in at Mate Darrens shop and spoke to his mate Ross who knew the car and it’s registration when I mentioned Galaxy, as a friend of his was the previous OCD meticulous owner, who kept records, monitored fuel consumption etc. was instantly complimentary about it. He suggested it would be a great car at the price. So I eventually went home to do some homework, insurance, road tax, running costs etc..... One of the things I would love to change on the Galaxy is the 16” alloy wheels for 17’s or 18’s Saw these E Class alloys on a VW Sharan, love the look. And these are another style I would love to fit. Had them on my 2006 C-Class years ago. Ohhhh, and of course, if really cheap and easy to do...... HIT IT WITH THE LOWERING STICK !!! Back to the reason for the treason of Prozac the Berlingo...... Trailer for towing and moving bigger items around. So the decision was made to buy this car as nothing ideal had made its way onto my radar. If VW Tourans did not keep their value so well, it would be my choice. Still, this seemed to be good enough and ticked all the boxes, except that I would not choose automatic More in a bit of anyone is watching or looking.

Well it will have far more usable van like space in the back than a CRV. It will have a lower floor for easier loading too. It will probably feel more comfortable and easier for granny to get in and out of AND it has even more styling potential than a CRV ( IMHO ) For what it has cost it is as cheap as chips and will be a fun car to play around with. Good purchase there Grizz.

Cheers mate I remember your trip and good fortune. This one is a Zetec spec, has air on etc. But also two LCD colour screens in the headrests with remote controllers, will investigate tomorrow. I have seen cars with 250k miles still commanding £1000.00 I guess they are well respected and fairly bulletproof. Plans......?? Prozac for sale, simply need the space. Not sure what theme if any. But like the idea of lowering if cheaply done and some,5 spoke 17/18 inch wheels. would look good on monoblocks! I doubt they lay about for £100.00 a set, but like them too. What’s been sleeping in the back of it? A few sheep? Other than that good purchase by the looks of it. Alpaca. Once the little niggles are sorted, it should be nicer. Interesting. The engine in that is a lovely upgrade for certain Mk5/6 escorts and sierra/Scorpio's. Its a one day swap that gives a decent power hike. Wear well buddy

Do something hot wheelz themed. Maybe some flames ☺ I used to think Satin Black was the solution to all modification conundrums This one is only going to get cheap mods, like Prozac. But 17” or 18” wheels in 5/6 spoke configuration are on the cards if I can find some. And as mentioned the STICK, again, only if simple bolt on options are available, to go with the bigger wheels. Interesting. The engine in that is a lovely upgrade for certain Mk5/6 escorts and sierra/Scorpio's. Its a one day swap that gives a decent power hike. Wear well buddy It certainly is no race car, but a significant improvement on 70 horses in Prozac. And once again, I do like me a roundabout or two, handles pretty decent for a large boat. HI mate, have a chat with these guys...http://www.theartssocietykentarea.org.uk/young-arts/ maybe they can do something special with your Galaxy.... Will take a look later. I want to do stuff myself as far as possible. Will see what comes into my head the next few weeks. Paul Y must be sighing a sigh of relief that it’s not a big V8 to be reinstated But who knows, he could be called anyway..... First report and impressions later. Brekkie now.

Rian - Has you are a vehicle owner on a budget first thing I would do is get the registration number on it valued and see if you can creep a few hundred quid back into the pot - it might not be worth anything or the effort of doing it in the first place - then again you maybe pleasantly surprised - it costs nothing to ask
